Reds tidbits 2014 (official thread of windshield licking)

Jax can I get your thoughts on the Catcher position? I ask because I thought Mesoraco was a guy that couldn't hit Kate Moss' weight but was good defensively, but then I read on the CBS wire last night that he was getting heat internally for poor communication with the pitching staff too. Then I saw the picture they had, and he looks like the kind of guy who would knock on a sweet old lady's door, then randomly start punching her cats. Will they go with Pena instead?

I always thought Mesoraco was going to be the guy to go crazy on bath salts and go running after peanut vendors during a game Ron Artest style....

2014 is off to a great start:

Hamilton walks on 4 straight balls, steals 2B and goes to 3B on throwing error
Willy Mays Hayes walks on 4 straight. We have 1st and 3rd, 0 out and Votto/Bruce/Deaddick coming up
Votto K's looking at 3 straight pitches, and Phillips gets thrown out trying to steal 2nd
Bruce flies out
end of inning

You can't make this shit up

LOL, They did get some runs on two outs later, including Votto getting a clutch hit. Baby steps.

Price put the best possible lineup out there today for sure. He also resisted the urge to LRLRLR and played Bruce/Votto back to back in the lineup

I guess later in the game they had runners on corners 0 out, Votto struck out, BP was caught stealing then Bruce flied out

mid season form already boys!!!

I know it means actually Jack Shit but to start the preseason game today Cingrani 11 pitches, 11 Strikes, 0 Balls. 1 hit. That's pretty awesome precision from a guy throwing his first game of the season and working in his new pitches. We might just have a lefty thats worth a shit in the rotation if he can be serviceable all year long.

* According to the box, Cingrani ended with 2IP, 14 pitches, 14 Strikes, 1 H, 3K's. Reds were leading 2-0 when he left. It's spring training and the first game he's been in so far so it's not like he's Nolan Ryan but I don't ever remember a guy not even throwing one pitch out of the strike zone. Hell batting practice guys throw one out from time to time.

- They also say there's not controversy at C with Mesoraco the clear cut starter but Pena has come to play this spring. If Mes can't figure out how to hit, he has to lose starts to Pena this season if it keeps heading that way.

Hope Chapman is OK.

Appears to be a scary situation.

Aroldis Chapman is up, joking and expected to make a full recovery
Fay goes on to report that Chapman may have minor surgery to deal with swelling around his eye and the possible insertion of a plate, and that he could be released from the hospital as soon as Saturday. He’s not expected to pitch, however, for six to eight weeks.
