A pic of Tony Reed:

Was that pic from last year? Put that kid in the weight room, 285 with that body could easily translate to 300+ with some weight training.

Looks like a decent DT prospect, a little high on the push/rush but overall good motor.

Cleve,
Boy I really am not trying to compare players here... I saw alot of film on these two guys. Rose is a specimen there is no doubt! Reed simply makes more plays. So it would be easier to say...All things being equal for right now... that Reed is as good or better if you watched them side by side. That is taking nothing away from Rose, his upside/potential is through the roof.

So basically what I am trying to say is that they are both top prospects....

Better than Rose? Sorry, I highly doubt it.[/QUOTE

Have you seen Rose play? He was dominated in the WGH game by Dante Campbell & Rocco Cironi. No disrespect, but Reed is a far cry better than Rose. Reed causes havoc nearly every play against the toughest of competition on both sides of the ball. Rose has a good upside, but I've seen better players in HS that didn't get much hype. WGH 04 grad Anthony Hoke was easily better than Rose. As a junior DE, he posted 80 tackles (26 TFL), 19 sacks, and an INT. He won the Division 1 Defensive Player of the Year award as a senior and he should of won it as a junior. Didn't mean to get off topic, but you can't always believe the hype if you haven't seen it for yourself.

The thing I can't stand about worm is all his examples are always WGH grads, whenever WGH beats another top ranked HS team in Ohio he gloats nonstop in a sort of non-intentional way. We get it Worm your a WGH grad and your proud of it, but their are other top notched schools in Ohio besides WGH with equally as good of players!

Anyways about Rose and Reed, well I would like to have them both!

msj, I use WGH grads as an example because I can speak on it. If I would have said that Shawn Crable was better than Rose in HS (which he was), then people like you would have put me down for saying that a UM recruit was better than an OSU recruit. Besides that, my intention wasn't to put down Rose. As far as me "gloating", I don't have to gloat. You guys over on scout clowned Manningham all last summer and I told you what he was going to do in the game two months before it happened. When it did, I spoke on it and people like you got mad. You say that I'm biased, but you are the one biased because you speak on stuff that you know nothing about (I remember you from last year). I know what I'm talking about. To go back to the WGH player thing, I speak on players that I've seen for myself, unlike most fans who cosign for whatever everyone else is talking about. I have my own views and you can disagree all you want. I know that there is other talent throughout Ohio. Heck, Ohio is the best HS football state in the country IMO. Many OSU fans strereotype WGH for being a UM school, which is why they like to think that other players are better than ours and that isn't always the case. My intention is not to make "enemies" (for lack of better terms) on any board, but I'm going to speak my mind like I always do.

Well when Reed starts getting some offers I'll believe the hype. Unless he's an academic casualty.
Reed doesn't have much "hype," but being a great player isn't all about getting "hype." He definitely deserves more than what he's getting, but that doesn't take anything away from what he does on the field. I've seen both players (I saw Rose 3 times last year) and as far as playing football is concerned, I think that Reed is better. That doesn't mean that Rose is a bad player, it means that Reed is a good one. The interesting thing about all this is that Reed is moving to offensive tackle on offense so we may get a chance to see them go up against each other. That would be interesting to say the least.

FWIW, Akron Hoban's Tyrell Sutton got very little "hype" this past season and he was easily the best player in Ohio last season. He is the best TB to come out of Ohio since Clarett IMO and many actually think that he was better. While I won't give him that much credit, he definitely deserves to be put in the same category because he was a beast. He will do some great things at Northwestern. In addition to that, we all know what happened to players like Jerry Rice & Barry Sanders, who both got very little "hype" coming out of HS.

Worm, you are not the only one who watches high school games and I'll take Mr Rose at the next level over Reed if you please. Rose is more athletic and imo is far more explosive of the edge. Reed is as strong as an ox also very athletic for a DT (if that is where he projects). Both are a solid prospects anyhow so its a tit for tat arguement.

Btw, I watched the Glenville vs WGH game as well lets try and keep things inperspective...."You" make it sound as if WGH manhandled Glenville...uhh no......

You can think what you want to think, although I can't see how you came to that conclussion. Rose is a nice athlete with a good upside, but Tony produces more on the field against better teams. St. Eds couldn't even block him one on one and they had arguably the biggest, strongest line in Ohio last season. You also said that I'm not the only one here that watches HS football, which is very true (especially in Ohio), but I am probably one of the few posters that have seen both Reed & Rose play, and each other at that. And for the record, I never once said that "WGH manhandled Glenville," but Glenville couldn't contain Reed & WGH contained Rose.

FWIW, this wasn't intended to be a knock on Rose at all, but just because he goes to Glenville doesn't mean that he's the best defensive lineman in the state. Ginn Sr. has always done a great job of promoting his talent, and Rose is definitely one to watch because he does have a lot of potential. Even with that being said, I don't think that he is on the same level as Reed.

Rose also has an offer from OSU...
Tyrell Sutton didn't get an Ohio State offer either and he was the best TB in Ohio last season, the best TB that I've personally seen since Clarett. To go a little deeper, guys like Barry Sanders (Oklahoma State) and Jerry Rice (Mississippi Valley State) didn't have the biggest of offers either, and we all know how their careers went. While I am surprised that Reed doesn't have an offer, he will eventually get his.

Sounds like a disgruntled Michigan fan who is upset that the Glenville pipeline isn't running north anymore....

Everyone has an opinion and people are going to disagree because they don't want to be proven wrong. I know that I'm going to get bashed for saying this, but how many people honestly think that O'Neal is better than Manningham after what happened in September? Rose gets a lot of hype cause he's got good size and he's from Glenville. Not only that, the biggest thing is that Ginn Sr. promotes his players and I respect that. Rose should dominate against Senate League teams and that's where the majority of his stats come from. Reed makes plays against St. Eds, Glenville, Massillon, etc., programs that are not only known throughout Ohio but throughout America. Whether or not Rivals thinks the way I do isn't going to determine who I think is better (and it really doesn't matter). Like I said earlier, Reed will line up at OT on offense this year so a real Rose vs. Reed matchup is very likely. So in a few months, I guess that we'll really find out who is better.
