Ref caught on mic "stalling" game for tv

The most egregious offense ever committed by TV against sports was the introduction of the TV time out into college basketball. It changed the game.

Since then (other than shortening the lenght of a CFB gave to make room for more commercials) I take it all with a shrug.

Crimes against humanity in order of severity:

1. The holocaust (if it really happened of course)
2. The designated hitter.
3. 9-11
4. The TV timeout in college basketball.
5. Deleting the Erin Andrews key-hole video from the Internets.

No doubt. What I hate is when a team call time out, they go to commercial, in the next possession the ball goes out of bounds and they go to commercial again. It is the worse thing about watching the final four.

I don't think the officiating is as suspect in the NFL as it is in the NBA but, as I originally said, I realize that's a subjective statement.

The importance of the players colluding to form teams can't be overstated, in my opinion. Fans of over half the teams in the NBA realize (or should realize) that their teams will likely have no shot at winning the title. Contrast that with the NFL, where small market teams win the Super Bowl with regularity (Green Bay and Pittsburgh are recent examples). It's a big deal, I think, for the health of a league when all of its teams could potentially field a winner.

In general I agree with this although OKC doing well (maybe short term) does Suggest that some small-market teams can occasionally rise up.

I'm guessing some of you have never attended a live, televised sporting event. A ref "stalling" a game for tv? So they can run commercials? Stop the presses!

Gee, that only happens in every major sport. It's part of the deal, unless you want every game to be on pay per view only.

It's going to happen in the NFL playoffs tomorrow, too. Cue the controversy!

My thoughts exactly. Kept waiting for the punch line to the story.
