By Mike Wachsman...Rob will take all his visits and likely commit after the season. His two brothers play football at Maryland, but all schools are even.

My take: Maryland will be tough to beat...

Clemson Offers NY TE

By Matt Long
Clemson is among the six favorites for TE Rob Gronkowski (6-6 253) of Williamsville North HS in New York. The others include Maryland, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio State. Other major offers have come from Penn State, Boston College, and Syracuse. " I was very impressed with Ohio State's offer," Gronkowski said. Although Gronkowski has not yet named a favorite, he does have two older brothers (Dan & Chris) who go to Maryland. He was also interested in Clemson, and hoped to make an unofficial visit there soon. He has already been to Maryland, Arizona, and Florida, and also plans on attending offensive camps at Ohio State and UNC. Said that he will not commit until after the season is over.

Update by BSB. Rob says he's very interested in Ohio State and that they are recruiting him very hard. He plans an unofficial visit to Columbus this summer, probably in August.

Gronkowski Checks Out CU & UNC

By Phil Kornblut
TE Rob Gronkowski (6-6 250) of Buffalo, NY has wrapped up his quick trip to the middle section of ACC territory where he checked out Clemson and North Carolina. Gronkowski was at Clemson Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. "It was pretty good," he said. "It was better than I thought it was going to be. I like the facilities a lot and how all the coaches treated me. I had a full tour of the campus and facilities. I like the campus a lot and the facilities are real good." Wednesday night Gronkowski was on the UNC camps from about 5:00 PM till Midnight. "It was better than I expected, too," he said. "The business school is real beautiful. The facilities are pretty nice, too." Gronkowski has also been to Maryland and Syracuse and might visit Ohio State before the start of practice. Gronkowski won't make a decision until after his official visits and he said Clemson and North Carolina are likely to get one. His favorite six, in no order, are Clemson, Arizona, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio State and Syracuse.

It seems that of the teams that made his cut, tOSU is by far the best football school. Hopefully we get a serious look from him. You would have to think he would like the prospect of playing at the Shoe.

Five-star tight end lands at Woodland Hills

TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Thursday, August 10, 2006

The rich just got a little richer. Rob Gronkowski, a five-star tight end from upstate New York, is transferring to Woodland Hills High School.
"Hopefully, it's going to be finalized tomorrow," Gronkowski's father, Gordon Gronkowski, said. "We'll enroll on Friday."
Gronkowski's arrival -- he will be eligible immediately according to the PIAA by-laws -- will improve a tough Woodland Hills squad. The Wolverines, who begin practice Monday, are ranked as high as No. 3 in the state.

Gronkowski, who will be a senior, caught 36 passes for 648 yards and seven touchdowns last season for Williamsville North High School, which plays in New York's biggest classification. He is rated as the No. 2 tight end in the nation, according to Scout.com. The 6-foot-6, 232-pounder has more than a dozen Division I offers. He has narrowed his list to Arizona, Clemson, North Carolina, Ohio State, Syracuse and Maryland, where his brothers, Dan and Chris, play.
Gordon Gronkowski owns a string of national fitness retailers, including five in the Pittsburgh metro area. He is moving from suburban Buffalo.
Woodland Hills football coach/athletic director George Novak said he was stunned when he learned about Gronkowski's imminent move into the district.
"I was shocked," Novak said. "His dad is looking for a place at Woodland Hills. He seems like a great kid. I said 'That's fine. We'd love to have you.'
"I've been here 20 years, and nobody ever walked in like that. It's a nice surprise. I know how Central (Catholic) feels now."
Gronkowski posted 73 tackles and six sacks on defense. He also is a standout basketball player, averaging 21 points and 18 rebounds last season as one of the top centers in New York. But football is his first love.
"He's fired up, and I'm fired up," Gordon Gronkowski said. "It's totally different up here from Western Pennsylvania football. ... You wouldn't believe how many calls I've been getting. People are calling up and saying, 'Is this finalized? You should look at our school.' "
