Rob Gronkowski (party buses and porn stars)

Rob Gronkowski big preseason hit
Ian R. Rapoport By Ian R. Rapoport

FOXBORO - If you watched from home, it was a play that made you stop the game and rewind your TiVo. If you watched inside Gillette Stadium, you no doubt whipped your head around to the new video screens to catch a second glimpse of it.

The goal was to make sure you saw what you thought you saw.

Did Patriots [team stats] tight end Rob Gronkowski really drag physical Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis 5 yards before diving into the end zone?

Upon further review, the 6-foot-2, 247-pound Ohio State product traveled 4 yards on the ground - from the 7-yard line to the 3 - before Gronkowski shook loose and made his one-legged leap over the goal line.

The budding rookie star, who caught a pass from quarterback Tom Brady [stats] in the flat and turned it into a 14-yard score, described it simply:

?Giving 100 percent every play,? Gronkowski said.

Football journey: Rob Gronkowski
December, 11, 2010
By Mike Reiss

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- At 6-foot-6 and 265 pounds, tight end Rob Gronkowski is the type of combination player that Bill Belichick covets -- strong enough to block at the line of scrimmage and athletic enough to get down the field as a pass catcher. That explains, in part, why the Patriots traded up two spots in the second round to select Gronkowski 42nd overall.

The Patriots just beat the clock to make that draft-day trade with the Raiders. Had they not, Gronkowski could have instead been selected by the Ravens -- who later drafted two tight ends -- at No. 43.

Gronkowski isn't aware of all the behind-the-scenes details from draft day, but says he's happy to have landed in New England. He's made an immediate impact in his rookie season with 26 receptions for 322 yards and 6 touchdowns. His size is particularly an asset in the red zone, where the Patriots rank third in the NFL in terms of touchdown percentage (32 TDs in 49 trips).

The 21-year-old Gronkowski shares his football journey with ESPNBoston.com:
Why he chose to attend University of Arizona: "I just saw opportunity there and liked the coaches. I just loved the place. Clemson, Syracuse and Ohio State were other considerations."

Pats training staff should have just gotten him liquored up.

Wouldn't feel a thing. Wouldn't run a straight route, but...yeah- alcohol is wonders for not feeling anything (until morning when you wake up with bruises and cuts from who knows where).

Gronk donates cleats to HS player, tells him to 'get chicks'

New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski was feeling charitable in early May as he had a pair of cleats (size 16) that he wasn't using and took to Twitter to see if anyone wanted them.

Report: Former Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski close to deal with WWE

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is close to finalizing a deal with WWE, according to a report by FS1's WWE Backstage program.

Gronkowski is "deep in talks" with the pro wrestling promotion, according to the report, though how he'll be used on screen is unknown. The report noted that Gronkowski could pop up on WWE SmackDown as early as March 20.

A request for comment sent to WWE was not immediately returned Tuesday night.

Gronkowski, 30, has worked with WWE before. He took part in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33 in 2017, jumping the barricade to help wrestler Mojo Rawley (a friend of Gronkowski's) win the match.

In August, Gronkowski said at a sponsor's news conference that he'd be interested in doing one big WWE match in "maybe five years" but could not see himself as a full-time wrestler.

"With wrestling, I don't feel like I would be a full-time wrestler, but there is one thing I'm down for," Gronkowski said. "And that's to do one crazy match. Practice it for a little bit, go out there -- like in a Royal Rumble -- go out there, I got my friend in WWE [Rawley], practice it and do a full-on WWE match. I'm not saying when, maybe five years. I got the rest of my life to do that. I've always dreamed about doing that, just one time, going in there and going full-out. That may be a possibility, one time, down the road."

Rawley told ESPN in October that the idea of Gronkowski being in WWE this year was not far-fetched.

"Hey, man, we've got SummerSlam in Boston [this coming August]," Rawley said. "Maybe we'll do a tag match. I've been doing my own thing, but for him, maybe I'll do a tag match."

WWE executives Paul "Triple H" Levesque and Stephanie McMahon, as well as Rawley, were at Gronkowski's Super Bowl beach party in February, at which time Levesque referenced SummerSlam in Boston in a Twitter post.
