Rose Bowl: USC 38, Penn St. 24 (Final)

I think Penn State can win, and here are my reasons:

1. USC's supposedly "amazing defense" is the product of a soft schedule- of course your defense will look great against Notre Dame, Washington, Washington State, and UCLA. Penn State has a REAL offense

2. USC's offense is highly overrated

3. USC does not seem to be interested in this game- remember what happened to Cal against Texas Tech in the 2004 Holiday Bowl?

1. Their defense looked pretty good against us.
2. It may be over-rated but it is pretty good.
3. Not sure that is true but they must feel cheated after thumping us.

I think it will be much closer than most folks think it will be.

Just want you to back up any of those statements..

Keep in mind that Penn State had a pretty weak schedule themselves..

Let's stop being pessimistic, and face it, the Big 10 NEEDS this win. We need to win most of our bowl games to gain some credibility back. I think Penn State actually matches up well with USC, it just better not end up like last years Rose Bowl.

No, Michigan State needs the Big10 to have respect. Illinois does. Northwestern does. We're Ohio State.....and if we just win our games, all the negativity in the world (which will be there if penn state wins or loses this game) can't keep us down.

WE LOST TO USC 35-3

Don't know about you, but I'm convinced they're a pretty good team.

PSU is going to get crushed. I really believe if we played PSU again right now, we'd knock them off (I know, I know, sour milk and what not). My point is that I still don't think we're within 14-20 points of USC right now. PSU is not going to be able to hang out in the Rose Bowl. And frankly, although I typically root for the Big Ten (even pulled for Michigan against Florida University last year) I really, really dislike PSU right now. So, as another poster said above: Fuck 'em.

I tend to think that StatePenn's defense will keep them in this game. As long as they can make tackles and apply adequate pressure, which they showed they are capable of doing against us, it won't be a total blowout. That said, PSU doesn't have the right QB to lead them to victory over a team like SC. Clarke didn't show anything more than what I had expected, which was not much.
