Well today sucked.

I want the old days back, when everything was about having a winning season, beating your rival, and going to a bowl game and winning.

Exacaf*ckingtively. There's a man who feels your pain. His name is E. Gordon Gee, and he has a simple three word solution: TRADITIONAL BOWL SYSTEM. Make New Year's Day real again!

Today sucked big time. Next year will be another year of "big ten sucks, sec is god, and omg! tcu and boise st! I don't remember hearing so much of conference dick measuring before the buckeye losses of 07 and 08. That being said, what does the conference need to do? Schedule tougher OOC games?

I hereby present to you the James Howell National Champions for 1996, your Ohio State Buckeyes!!!!
I have nothing but love for the 1996 Ohio State Buckeyes. You don't drive the field for the winning score after the Snake scored late, Spurdog and UF do not play for the 1996 co-championship. :tongue2:

Why does anything have to change? Who cares if Sparty and Michigan got pantsed? If you don't want to hear the mediots and their bullshit; then change the channel, turn down the volume, or go outside. The shit only inundates you if you let it.

In addition to play calling, BB's (Now renamed Dumb Ass) clock management at the end of the 1st half also cost them this game. With two minutes to go they did not run any sort of hurry up and settled for a FG. I don't care if you the same running play over and over, just run as many plays as you can.

As far as the Big 10 laying an egg yesterday, I always thought this year the Big 10 was down a little. It happens, last year the Big 10 was 4-3 in bowls. This year they will be 3-5 (I hope )

agree...BB coached like an idiot yesterday.

as for the BigTen being down....this was supposed to be the year for the BigTen to have a chance at looking better than the SEC (which was supposedly down this year). Michigan State getting destroyed...utterly humiliated against a team that lost not 1 but THREE SEC games...was particularly deflating.

I should have been clearer. My evaluation of the Big 10 in the post you responded to was based on play well into the season. Before the season I too thought the Big 10 was stronger.

I'm still shocked today by the stupidity of the Wisconsin coaching staff.
John Clay could have had 200 yards against TCU. You're bigger. Your stronger. Just pound the ball right between the tackles. On that last drive, I was thinking about Woody. They knew what was coming but they just couldn't stop it. And those idiots are so lost in their charts and plans, that they can't see the wood for the trees.

Stunning. Stupidity.

Other than TCU watching the ducks and plainestiggerseagles play next week instead of being in the BCSCG - and Boise being dropped out of a BCS Bowl to the whateverthehell that was they played in.

TOSU has the national prestige to overcome a "crappy conference" thing as far as a BCS bowl bid. But it just might cost you if you are a one loss champ competing against a one loss SEC Champ for a bid. Then, a poor conference perception could screw you.

Amen. I'm seeing a lot of responses that say having a crappy conference doesn't hurt -- are these the same folks who put down the Big East and the ACC, "because you don't have to be very good to win that conference championship?"

My own bitch about TCU and Boise getting invited to the "big games" ran along the same logic, "They play one BCS team early in the season, go through a marshmallow conference schedule and then expect to play in the top bowl games. They'd get killed if they had to play a Big 10 schedule," sounds hollow if the Big 10 teams don't win or keep the score respectable, especially when two of them prove to be totally inept.

Based on yesterday -- one conference champion giving up 42 points before scoring on the second and third stringers -- another conference champion losing to a non-BCS team -- you have to wonder about the third -- sure they're 10 and 1, but who did they play: Miami, who just got their ass whomped by Notre Dame, Wisconsin, who lost to a Mid Level conference team, Michigan, who gave up a gazillion yards to a four loss conference also ran?

The Buckeyes and the Big 10 need a win in the Sugar Bowl.

Michigan State was never a legitimate BCS team in the BigTen this year. They played decent through the season, being helped by the fact that they snuck one past Wisconsin before they picked up their game in the win against Ohio State ... The main issue particularly was that the SEC was screwed up this year. Alabama, talent wise, is the best team in the SEC. They just played a few poor games and ended up playing against a "good," not great, BigTen team in a bowl game. Michigan State went in over estimating their own talent, and left humiliated.

Wisconsin .... well Wisconsin I can't stop shaking my head over ... this wasn't the same Wisconsin team that played Ohio State. They fought hard, but their defense wasn't near on the level as it was against Ohio State.

It's a sad day when Northwestern (without Dan Persa) was the only team with a shot at the win in a bowl game on New Years Day at the end of the game. And Illinois and Iowa being the only two wins so far ... Illinois!! Ouch.

I do have a question for the football coaches (or other such intelligent beings) on the board. It seemed that when Wisky would try to get to the edge with their pitch play (pull a off side guard or center and zone block with the RB picking out his seam), TCU MLB (or maybe the back side contain) would pick his way through the line and make the tackle before the RB could find a hole.

Two questions-

1) Do I remember this correctly?

2) Is this a standard or a novel approach to defending this play?

Thanks in advance for the answer.

And then, having smashed their way down the field and rocked TCU's D-line and scored, you go into a two-back, shot gun formation that just screams pass, you don't move the QB, and the pass gets knocked down at the LOS. Hardly imaginative play calling.
