rumor central and the cbj

this is all public info but as a recap

deals that could be done at any second
doug weight for a 2nd rounder this year.

stuff on the table
vermette for russel (with some sort of small balancing likely)

discussions
leafts-antropov, kubina, kaberle. burke wants top shelf prospects and picks. antropov is a ufa. howson not low balling but not meeting burkes expectations. they will clean house by deadline/draft

pens-discussions here. no idea which player(s) we know that the coaching staff and staal dont mix, but is he truely a top flight centre? pens are struggling as evident by dropping 5 straight and now 11 of 15 or something like that.. would they make a move? what would they want? could a winger be their answer (likely) do the jackets have that winger (unlikely unless they feel that a player like chimmer-for instance could fill some of that grit/speed/toughness/boardplay that is missing post malone). what else could be had there? maybe more, who knows. kennedy, letang? not really sure they have a lot of rfa soon to be talent and a lot of cash wrapped up in the big five boys long term (sid, malkin, maf, whitney, oprik) though none of the contracts are bad contracts that is a lot of cahs wrapped up long term. *lots of pens fans here who honestly follow the pens closer than i do but i think moves have potential and what not to do something.

cap space
over the cap-rangers, stars
under 1m left-ducks, hawks, wings, flyers, pens, sharks, caps

what i do know-mark my words the habs will do something, most likely somethign irrational on the trade front. mark my words, they are dead set to make a cup run in their 100th year.

id expect some more info movement after the wings game tonight. truth be told im not sure the jackets have the depth to swing a multi player deal on a gameday...

The pens (huge fan here) desperately need a scoring winger. To be honest Staal has really really strugged in the offensive zone in all three seasons he's been on the penguins team. Is he an eventual top flight center? No, I doubt it. If i'm the pens I trade him for a scoring winger ASAP to get some value for him because he's not the answer we need. Not to mention having three centers like the Pens do is unnecessary because they'd be better off spending that 4 million that staal gets on someone like Hejduk.

As far as with the CBJ though... I doubt it. The pens need a winger like Hejduk or St. Louis that are great 25-30 goal guys. They don't need Marion Hossa again, but they need someone skilled.

The penguins do have a stock pile of defenseman so I'd also look for the pens to move Ryan Whitney who hasn't played very well now for 2 years straight.

Staal and Whitney should be used as trade bait. This team needs wingers BADLY. Crosby playing on a line with the likes of Kennedy and Dupuis at each wing is terrible to watch. Although it is curious that, Crosby and Sykora couldn't mesh well... but Malkin never seems to have a problem meshing with wingers.

4-i complained twice during the thrid period to the guy next to me when the wings did the same thing. i was told that was rarely called, and hardly ever in the playoffs, and never late in games. i reminded him of don cherry going ape shit on the 1979? call against the habs... game 7, blah blah yup.

Taking it a bit too far no?

Absolutely nothing and it will give Columbus a bad rep league-wide.

If they can go back and show the clips where the exact same thing went uncalled throughout the 3rd period, I think it makes a pretty damn good point.
