Rutgers Scarlet Knights (official troll of PedSU)

Wouldn’t be surprised if Schiano hasn’t already met with the mayor and city council of New Brunswick either. It’s not like there’s acres of undeveloped land around Rutgers campus for $200 mil of new facilities like Columbus had along Ackerman and Lane 25 years ago.

It’s a massive logistical undertaking that extends beyond the University in a densely populated area like northeast NJ, which is divided by a river and blocked to the east by an ocean and every cardinal point by interstates and toll roads. It will require rezoning, tax levies, and state & local funding to pull off, and at least a 10 year commitment from government.

Can’t they just knock down a couple dorms and classroom buildings? Those structures can be rebuilt on other sites, making them higher/underground to create open space for football. Plus, lotta wasted space in those NJ highway medians.

What the hell does Rutgers do now? A look at post-Greg Schiano coaching candidates

Nunzio Campanile, Rutgers: The Scarlet Knights’ interim head coach has acquitted himself well the last two months and could find himself in the right place at the right time. With things falling apart with Schiano so close to the end of the season, it’s possible Rutgers will feel promoting Campanile, 42, and seeking stability is a real option, even if he is 1-6 after replacing Ash.

Anthony Campanile, Michigan: The former Rutgers player and assistant and current Wolverines linebackers coach emerged as a top alternate target before Schiano fell through. Campanile, 37, has more college and coordinator experience than his brother Nunzio, who would presumably stay on staff as his younger brother’s top assistant.

Rutgers lost a game this weekend and lost yet another player as well. .

Following a 27-0 shutout at the hands of Michigan State on Saturday, Scarlet Knights tailback Elijah Barnwell took to Twitter to announce that he is leaving Piscataway and entering the NCAA transfer portal.

I’m of the belief that the conference did them know favors but tying a hand behind Rutgers’ back by limiting the shares for years. I mean, I get that they’re in a tough spot and all, but ffs the conference did them no favors by handicapping them in response to landing a record TV deal AFTER adding them and Maryland to the league.

I get that it’s more complicated than that; but come on. Don’t pretend like you added them solely for academic prosperity when IU is in this conference.

there are plenty of ADs losing money while actually trying to win at football.. no reason they can’t do the same

In fairness to the conference, I believe that the delay in getting a full share is now due to Rutgers taking out loans from the conference against future payments. Just not sure what the vig is on the loans.

With time potentially running out in Chestnut Hill, report says BC’s Steve Addazio interested in Rutgers job

The Rutgers head coaching job has been open for months now but it’s as if the search for a new leader of the program has been completely reset following numerous reports saying that Greg Schiano could not agree to a deal with the school to return to Piscataway.

As a result, there are plenty of names that have surfaced in the ensuing days with reported interest on either site of the table. On Tuesday it was Ohio State DC Jeff Hafley. Today? It’s Boston College’s Steve Addazio.

According to NJ.com:

Steve Addazio has expressed a desire to interview for the Rutgers vacancy, according to two people familiar with the coach’s actions this week, and Rutgers officials are also interested in meeting with Addazio, according to a high-ranking Rutgers official.

The Eagles’ head coach making a move to join the Scarlet Knights makes some sense from both sides. He’s 43-44 overall at Boston College, raising the floor of the program with five bowl appearances but likely on thin ice this year, with a new AD after failing to break past seven wins during his tenure. He’s from Connecticut and has extensive recruiting ties up and down the East Coast, especially in New Jersey, which would be a huge plus for the program trying to dig out of a huge hole.
