Rip tides in the Gulf have killed 7 people in the last 7 days. Unfortunately, people want to go out to the farthest sandbar and there can be a price to pay for that action.
People think because they have swam in pools most of their lives they're ready for the ocean. Seen dozens of sailors nearly drown the first time they were dropped in away from the beach and told to swim back at a measley 500 meters and they were trained. As soon as the tide works against you is like your carrying someone on your back.

Bummer for a guy this young that had a lot of promise in his life.

I grew up swimming in Lake Tahoe, but I don't fuck with the ocean. The Ocean is something pretty to look at while you're swathed in linen and drinking a martini.

Depending on the beach, waist high is usually the limit I’d go for an ocean beach. But after these past few weeks, I think I’ll cut it off at knee height.
We just left Seaside 2 weeks ago and they were at double red flags on the beaches half the time we were there. That was a first for us.
