One of the big sports writers had an interesting tweet regarding this.. said that there are a surprising amount of NFL players who aren't NFL fans. They just happen to be really good at football. Just weird to think about.

Why? I'd bet a large percentage of them are college fans that just happen to play on a pro team. He also makes some valid points. The Cowboys being in the NFC(?) East makes zero sense.

Which is completely different from hockey, but not necessarily the other sports.

Usually hockey players grew up being fans of like 4 teams - The Wings, The Maple Leafs, the Canadians or the Rangers with a few Boston and Edmonton/Calgary fans mixed in.

People don't have to love their jobs to be good at what they do and make a ton of money.

Some of kids don't even play football until they the juniors or seniors. Some prefer basketball but don't have the height. I'd imagine some of the lineman are athletic, 300 pounders that do it because they make a ton of money.

It is weird to think about.
