Sam "L" McGuffie (Olympic Bobsled Team)

Just to clarify...

I thought that it was widely believed that he wanted an OSU offer for a "trophy", not because he really wanted to come here.

He chose the dark side. I wish no inury upon the kid, but I wouldn't mind seeing him cry on the sideline after another hit just like that one next year.
that's the second time I heard somebody mention him crying. was he really crying?

If he was, he would not be the first player to cry on the sidelines during THE GAME. I remember seeing Bobby Carpenter crying after he got knocked out of THE GAME. I understand it was Bobby's last game and he only played one play. Different kind of tears I guess.

c'mon, guys. this is a kid, at some point during his recruitment, had expressed a keen interest in playing for the GOOD guys. Fortunately, our coaches made an honest evaluation and decided not to offer this kid based upon his talent, or slightly lack there of. For some reason I've always liked McGuffie. I admire his toughness and heart he has displayed this season eventhough he DOES play for the state up north as a true freshman. Just try to put yourself in his place...playing behind that swiss cheese of line, that D-1AA worthy of a quarterback, and for that weasel of a coach, he was in a REALLY bad situation all and all. The kind of pounding he took is unreal! I actually felt real bad for the kid when he got "obliterated" in THE Game.

At any rate, I just wish that everyone can cut this kid some slack.

osu.edu ROCKS!!!

Pull your skirt down. Your thong is showing.

Like others have said, it's football. Not freeze tag.

My dad and I do this all the time. After I showed him the youtube video, he always laugh whenever I yell out "McGuffie" when someone tries to hurdle.

I do the same thing... and now my kids do it too....

Actually, I just do it when McGuffie comes on screen... not when anyone tries to hurdle...

McGuffie absent from Michigan football banquet - Michigan Wolverines Football: News, Blogs, Photos, Audio & Video - MLive.com

by John Heuser The Ann Arbor News
Thursday December 04, 2008, 6:41 PM

When members of the Michigan football team took their seats at the annual football bust Thursday night, Sam McGuffie was absent from the group.

The reason for his absence was unclear.

Coach Rich Rodriguez spoke before the team filed into the Laurel Manor, but said he would not address personnel issues or the status of assistant coaches.

Last week, Rodriguez said that McGuffie was dealing with some family issues at home in Texas, but said he expected that the running back would return to the Wolverines next season.

Carson Butler was also missing from the banquet Thursday night. Butler, who just completed his junior season, had lost his starting job at tight end and moved to the defensive line during the '08 season.

Running back Avery Horn was also not in attendance.

Rodriguez also said Thursday he expected to sign a full 25-member recruiting class this offseason, an estimate higher than the 20 to 23 he projected last week shortly after the season ended.

It seems like on other messageboards, there are strong rumors that McGuffie wants to transfer to TCU to be closer to his family.

This is going to be an interesting situation. He seems like a great playmaker for Michigan, if he can avoid future concussions.

McGuffie Receives His Release

by Brian Perroni

For the last month, rumors and speculation have swirled over the future of freshman running back Sam McGuffie, who finished second on the squad in rushing with 486 yards. After mulling over his options, McGuffie has reached a final decision. [details]

Transferring to another BCS division school and having to sit out a year could serve a greater purpose in allowing McGuffie's head to heal. Remember when a member of the Michigan coaching staff implied his desire was lacking when McGuffie didn't rush back to the playing field due to injuries? It would be interesting to know if McGuffie was hesitant to rush back out of fear of suffering another concussion. Which is what happened, of course, when he did make his return against Ohio State.

McGuffie says good by to Michigan

Michigan gave tailback Sam McGuffie a complete release from their program. Sam is indicating he's headed to T AM.

While I want to say that perhaps he's living in fear of another hit from Spitler, I hate to see Michigan's program continue to crumble.
