c'mon, guys. this is a kid, at some point during his recruitment, had expressed a keen interest in playing for the GOOD guys. Fortunately, our coaches made an honest evaluation and decided not to offer this kid based upon his talent, or slightly lack there of. For some reason I've always liked McGuffie. I admire his toughness and heart he has displayed this season eventhough he DOES play for the state up north as a true freshman. Just try to put yourself in his place...playing behind that swiss cheese of line, that D-1AA worthy of a quarterback, and for that weasel of a coach, he was in a REALLY bad situation all and all. The kind of pounding he took is unreal! I actually felt real bad for the kid when he got "obliterated" in THE Game.

At any rate, I just wish that everyone can cut this kid some slack.

osu.edu ROCKS!!!

If I recall correctly, we didn't offer him because we made a promise to Devoe Torrence from Massolin that if he committed he would be the only RB we would take in his class. It was too late after Torrence lost his offer due to off the field problems. Regardless, Sam is a great player and will contribute where ever he goes.

This is not the reason Sam did not get an offer. Regardless, hopefully he gets well and contributes somewhere.

Michigan gave tailback Sam McGuffie a complete release from their program. Sam is indicating he's headed to T AM.

While I want to say that perhaps he's living in fear of another hit from Spitler, I hate to see Michigan's program continue to crumble.

the one player with any seeming toughness and one who fit the best into Dick Rod's system has transferred....

Awesome

yes I'm joking (mostly)

Shaw is actually the chosen one. The staff loves him.
the chosen one changes daily. I went through a thread that went from talking about how great newsome was, to talking about how great newsome and beaver were, to talking about how great it's going to be when newsome, beaver, and forcier are all there challenging each other, to talking about how scared newsome is, to how forcier is the best of the three.

want to take a guess at when each committed/decommitted?

Sam McGuffie started for Michigan as a freshman in 2008, rushing for 486 yards and three touchdowns.

HOUSTON -- Victoria McGuffie looked back one more time at her oldest son. The weekend visit to Ann Arbor, Mich., was over, and Victoria and the rest of the family had to leave for Houston. Sam McGuffie stood and waved goodbye slowly, his head drooping lower as his family grew smaller in the distance.

"I saw that," Victoria said, "and I wanted to throw up."

By all accounts, the early part of Sam McGuffie's freshman season at Michigan in 2008 was a raging success. Even though the Wolverines played poorly as they adjusted to first-year coach Rich Rodriguez, McGuffie was a bright spot. He started the season opener against Utah. He gained 178 all-purpose yards in a loss at Notre Dame. He needed to polish his running style, and the line in front of him needed work. Still, it seemed McGuffie had the tools to make the transition from recruiting legend -- thanks to 5,847 yards and 83 career touchdowns at Cy-Fair High and a series of spectacular YouTube clips -- to bankable college football star.

McGuffie should have enjoyed his early success, but he didn't. Sam's father, Terrie, returned to his native Michigan for a while to give Sam some family support. As the season wore on, Terrie noticed a profound change. "It was his demeanor," said Terrie, who has been divorced from Victoria for more than 10 years. "He lost about 10 pounds. He had circles under his eyes. He didn't look happy."

Baliff would love to let McGuffie return kickoffs, but he worries McGuffie will change directions one too many times and get blindsided by a special teams kamikaze with a full head of steam.

Haha! Sounds like McGuffie's new coach has seen ALL of his YouTube resume. The last time he returned a kickoff he got knocked all the way back to Texas. Who knows where he'd end up after the next one.

Also, not surprised but still epic lulz at RichRod after seeing that a C-USA coach immediately has a better grasp of McGuffie's limitations than he did.
