Scenarios for Final 2022 CFP Rankings

My worry is Lathan Ransom, McCallister and Hickman vs the Georgia tight ends. Particularly Washington who's literally an offensive tackle who can run.

Physically that's not a good time there... we'd need a player like Styles and Proctor to play in that game.
Yeah Georgia's a whole different beast. Stroud would need 500 yards and 5 TDs minimum for that battle unless the D played the game of their lives.

Honestly, until our defensive backs prove that they can show up, I don't like our chances against anyone. We made a profoundly mediocre QB in Spin Pass Jesus look like the second coming of Dan Fouts. Stroud has definitely proven that he can put up pinball numbers with our receivers, but in the two biggest games in his career, he hasn't shown that he can do what Fields did against Clemson and just put the team on his back, grit through adversity and pain and shove a dagger in the other team's heart.

Speaking of Clemson it'd take that kind of performance from Ryan Day and Stroud to win. That aggressive throwing game and CJ would need to buy time with his legs.

The two major themes we've seen during Day's tenure are that 1) a good defensive team can play a lot of zone and keep his offensive output far below normal, like struggle to score 30's or worse kind of struggle and 2) his defenses have absolutely sucked against the pass. Lack of cover ability exposed even more by the disappearance of the traditional front 4 pass rush that kept corners protected.

Knowles has cleaned up some of the really egregious shit on defense (run fits and multiple looks) but the corners still can't cover and we don't get the QB without blitzing.

Neither #1 nor #2 are likely to get fixed all of a sudden, new lease on life or not. I'm happy to get in but don't like our chances at all.
