...especially considering we won't have a scholarship punter on the team next season returning from this year...

Ben Buchanan could do punting duties on top of being our kicker, but in all honesty, the job is there for the taking for Will if he's willing to work his butt-off and earn the starting position. At a school where the punt is glorified as being "the biggest play in football", that's a heck of an opportunity for him!

Floyd, Hagerup making official visits this weekend - ESPN

Two of the top prospects in Big Ten country -- defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington) and punter Will Hagerup (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) -- continue their official visits this weekend.

Floyd (No. 73 in ESPNU 150) took his first official visit last weekend when he was in Gainesville, Fla., attending the Florida-Tennessee game. This weekend Floyd will make an official visit to USC and will see the Trojans take on Washington. Floyd's other official visits will take him to Penn State, South Carolina and North Carolina. It would not be surprising to see Floyd's decision come down to the Nittany Lions and Gators.

Hagerup makes an official visit to Michigan this weekend, where he will see the Wolverines take on Indiana.

He has already made official visits to Wisconsin, Ohio State and Florida. His visit to Michigan is the last one he plans to take before selecting a college. In the end, it will be surprising if Hagerup leaves the Midwest to play his college football, but predicting which of the three Big Ten schools he is likely to select is very difficult at this point.

Hagerup fills the void as UM's punter
By RYAN AUTULLO
BLADE SPORTS WRITER

ANN ARBOR - Only at the University of Michigan is it acceptable if W follows Z.

For most of the last four football seasons, tenants of the student section at Michigan Stadium have celebrated punts - yep, they got excited over punts - by positioning their fingers into the shape of the letter Z.

It remains to be seen how those fans plan to improvise this season now that the subject of that tradition, Zoltan Mesko, is collecting a paycheck with the NFL's New England Patriots.

"There's this," Mesko's replacement, Will Hagerup said, as he stretched his fingers to make a W. "But I definitely have to prove myself before I can get things like that."
