OMG! I'm freakin esctatic! (I dont even know or care if I spelled that right!!!) This is HUGE, I'm mean huge!!!! Hopefully he works his magic to get some more top rated players this way! Cook is a dream come true, and the fact that there is so much talent left in the state of Ohio for '06 and '07 makes me drool for more!!! Lets go Matta, come on Cook, bring us a championship!!!

I'm way ahead of myself right now, but this is possibly the best early Buckeye B-Day present as well as a hell of a way to be waking up in the morning! I feel great!!

Well I didn't think this was a hugh get until you meant it ;-)
Waking up around noon? What kind of a job do you have?

Cook To OSU: What The Experts Are Saying
By Steve Helwagen Managing Editor
Date: Mar 23, 2005

We polled Chris Johnson of HoopScoop.com and Dave Telep of ScoutHoops.com on the importance of the impending verbal commitment by national top-10 junior Daequan Cook to Ohio State and coach Thad Matta.
Some experts believe his verbal may be OSU’s biggest since Jim Jackson signed with the Buckeyes in 1989.

Chris Johnson (HoopScoop.com).........says its a "huge deal" and he thinks this gives OSU an edge with Mike Conley and perhaps Greg Oden if he doesnt go pro. Johnson says Cook can do it all.

Dave Telep, national recruiting editor for ScoutHoops.com.......He thinks this verbal, validates OSU with kids. He believes Cook is an instant impact player.

I think thats how you spell it......

His signing could quite possibly trigger some major interest from other impact players including Conley and possibly Oden. I would compare this signing with Jim Jackson and if you remember, like I do, we added two other McDonald All-Americans in Treg Lee and Perry Carter in that class.

I hope Cook can attract some other blue chip prospects. The key is to get these guys on campus.

I think it was Perry Carter wasn't it?
nice catch.......I meant Perry Carter, Mr. Windex man himself.

We added another highly regarded guard in that class also, anybody remember Mark Baker? He was also from Dunbar.

Back on topic......

Cook is the type of player that can put the program back in the top 25 as soon as he walks on campus. Matta is on his way to getting the program back on track and keeping the #1 player in his class in Ohio is really big.

Great news.

Now we all need to lobby for rules changes on NBA draft entry. OSU has never had a one-and-done stud before and Cook could certainly be the first. Put in an age limit and maybe we can land some of the great talent coming out of the state the next few years (i.e. we need to find a way to hold the Mayo).

With Cook on board lets get it started. Conley and Oden could be next then Lighty. Forget about the Fab 5 thugs this will be the best recruiting class in the big 10 in the last 20 years. Now we need Gene Smith to move the students to the lower bowl of the Schott and get all of the blue hairs up in the 400 level to do all of their knitting and reading!!!!!

GO BUCKS :osu:

Great news! I fully expect us to land David Lighty also. If his knee comes back to full health before summer is over we could see a real coup begin in the 06 recruiting class. I don't think Conley or Oden will be deciding any time soon since the bargaining agreement won't take place until at least July or so timeframe. Great job coach Matta. Dare we say that we have the best two coach combination in the country with Tressel and Matta? I think we do.

BTW I believe its pronounced Di-Kwan per Dayton news sources (tv).
