This whole time they've been talking about how they'll be the beneficiary of both John and Jim sending them assistants.
It never occurred to them that Jim has no coaching tree. He needed John's retread rescues. Even if John continued the "internship program" (as they call it), Jim will just poach them because nobody else is going out there.

One could argue that Moore stole it off the back of the truck when they packed up Harbaugh. More likely, it just reveals how lost at sea this guy is as a head coach without a cheating infrastructure that can be played out in the open. One advantage of Ohio State bringing in a new offensive coordinator is the chance to effectively instill new plays and philosophies that gut the advantages accrued through TCUN cheating.
