SHOOTING on OSU Campus 3/9/2010

Police: Shooting on Ohio campus kills 1, wounds 2
March 09, 2010 07:12 EST
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio State University says one of its employees was killed and two were wounded in an overnight shooting at a campus maintenance building.

University police say a suspect was taken into custody after heavily armed campus officers searched the area, just east of Ohio Stadium.

The nation's largest university says in a statement that the shooting was first reported at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. University Police Chief Paul Denton says one of the wounded employees is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.

No names have been released.

Denton said at a news conference that police are trying to determine what motivated the shooting.

Ohio State says no students were hurt. The university says classes will be held as normal on Tuesday.

Jeez oh pete...I woke up to an email from my dad saying that there was a shooting on OSU campus this morning. Sure enough I got the email from the Emergency Email from OSU. Very sad day. Keep those involved in your prayers.

Message from OSU Emergency Management

University police provide update on campus shooting

University Police have confirmed the identities of the victims and suspect in a shooting that occurred on campus earlier this morning. They also have confirmed two deaths.

? Larry Wallington, 48, building services manager, a victim in the shooting, was pronounced dead at the scene earlier this morning.
? Henry Butler, 60, operations shift leader, also a victim, is in stable condition at the OSU Medical Center
? Suspect, Nathaniel Brown, 51, custodial worker, sustained a self-inflicted gunshot at the scene and was transported to OSU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival

More than 1/2 dozen employees were working at the OSU Maintenance Building, 2000 Tuttle Park Place, when the suspect entered an office suite with a gun and began shooting. Those employees and other coworkers have been offered grief counseling.

The incident appears to be work related. Brown was hired in October 2009.

A bad performance review? Unbelievable. People like this really piss me off. For God's sake, take responsibility for your actions and get over it. The poor review was most likely YOUR fault, not your manager's, and certainly not anyone else who might fall into the line of fire when you pull the trigger. When you don't do your job, you deserve a poor review. When you do your job (as the manager did in giving the review), you do not deserve to be shot.

Nobody thinks that they should have to take responsibility for themselves anymore. This is, in my opinion, one of the biggest problems we have in our society today.

I'm glad this worthless piece of shit killed himself.
