Of course leave it to Rivals to put Bama at #1

someone said Rivals' math doesn't add up.

If you follow the formula, Bama's score should be 2746 which would put them in 2nd place.

Any recruiting gurus here that kno how to figure this stuff out to confirm?

Honestly, I couldn't care less about recruiting rankings...they mean so little at the end of the day and don't take into account the biggest factor...what a particular team's needs are that year.

Somehow Ohio State went from No. 4 to No. 9 by ESPN in two days and after one pickup in Marcus Hall.

But recruiting rankings don't mean much and ESPN (Scouts Inc.) may be regarded as the worst between them, Rivals and Scout.com.

Taken for granted: Ohio State, Texas and USC. While plenty of schools spent a frenzied Wednesday waiting on word from a host of uncommitted prospects, the Buckeyes and 'Horns, as is often the case, finalized most of their class months ago. Both finished in Rivals' top five, with Ohio State landing six Top 100 players (Pennsylvania native Dorian Bell could be the next great Buckeyes linebacker), Texas seven (hometown QB Garrett Gilbert could eventually succeed Colt McCoy).

Apparently one Buckeye decommit didn't get the message that Illinois is having a down recruiting year with the loss of coach Locksley. (they lost Appleton? to Wiscy) I look for the fall off to continue. And it having an effect on the field.

The 2 different recruiting philosophies of the Michigan schools will be interesting to watch play out on the field. MSU concentrating on Michigan and scUM going mostly outside Michigan.

Watching ESPN College Football Live, and they just showed the top classes. How the heck did we drop to #9 overnight? Doesn't make any sense what so ever.

If Ohio State would like to conduct an experiment, they could take every kid from the state of Florida or the South in one class and see where ESPN ranks that class.

If three other services have Ohio State in the Top 4, trust those recruiting sites and not the one that says No. 9. But rankings don't really mean much.

I watched most of their signing day coverage. It was a warm state lovefest. Nothing but SEC, Pac-10, and Big-12 coverage. They blow rivals away in terms of southern bias.

The best part was the butchering of a number of top prospect's names. They're very good at their job.

I particularly enjoyed there absolute refusal to even mention Ohio State whenever they talked about Marlon Brown. Hell, they mentioned Florida multiple times even though they had been publically eliminated for a while, yet the only mention I saw of Ohio State (besides the hat on the head of a student at the table) was on one graphic that was up for like 2 seconds. I coulda sworn Ohio State wasn't even recruiting him.
