SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

Yeah I'm actually surprised there haven't been many stories coming out of the program post transfer/pro about how he's a asshole. That 49ers divorce was ugly and even the players started taking shots

Seems like the past couple of seasons they figured out ways to not let him actually communicate much and have others do his communicating for him.

Will be interesting to see how that goes now that the guy in charge of that apparently, BIFF, is gone to be the coach at Charlotte.

That's what I thought. Poggi was basically the "Tard Wrangler" between Simple Jim and the team. Now those guys have to deal directly with him.

I would suggest that more importantly, Poggi was the guy who bitched about the country club atmosphere and told folks to stop pretending they'd arrived the moment they signed a LOI. Rumors all over the place credit him with levelling up the program's intensity and preparation; which sounds pretty important if your recruiting is about taking fistfuls of three star prospects and developing them into something more than that over the course of a 2-3 years.

I am not even remotely worried about any of these transfers, or losing the assistant strength coach; but Poggi leaving felt like a serious blow to the program and I can't help but wonder if this total meltdown is at least a bit related to the departure of our captain serious coach.

It's really self sabotage. Very odd. Unless he's really just an asshole playing the long con. He probably knows he has maybe 1 season of "sure" success left before he starts losing all his key pieces that have been there forever now. Play the pot up even more this year, and even if he doesn't leave after this season, maybe squeeze a little more out of Michigan and make the exit after next season before the gravy train runs out.
In the world of NIL and Transfer Portal, recruiting and keeping talent are undergoing change. I no longer believe that having a team of 4 and 5 stars is a lock on success. Harbaugh and Michigan will always be attractive to a significant amount of The 3 - 5 star pool.

Brass tacks tho? I really couldn't give a damn about Jim's honesty and pretending this isn't how the business works is naive and childish.

What's burning my ass is what should be burning it; this dude is taking a sledgehammer to our recruiting. Everything else is just noise. The last two classes have been trash, and this year's class is also going to be trash because January is when you win recruiting.

It's totally binary; do or do not. Jim can be a complete scumbag hiding behind his faith for all I care; total "Snow Dabo" if that's what it takes to get the talent needed to win. But when you're a scumbag AND you can't deliver the goods? Dawg, that's Arky. We can't be Arky.

Get him out of here now. I've seen enough.
When you have his level of oddity in appearance and behavior, when it is clear to everyone that you do not really have much ability to develop talent from freshman class up and you use the portal as he does, it would seem that recruiting might be a lot less important to him.

https://johnubacon.com/2023/01/harbaugh-watch-day-four-what-we-know-and-dont-know/

Sources have told me Harbaugh is fed up with the NCAA, and all the hassles that go with coaching college football vs. the NFL – something just about every coach would understand. The NCAA is famous for punishing misdemeanors while ignoring felonies. As Jerry Tarkanian famously said, “The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky that they’re going to give Cleveland State another year of probation.”

Another unknown factor: Harbaugh and/or his staff will likely receive some form of reprimand from the NCAA, for what I’ve heard is a relatively minor recruiting infraction from two years ago. What exactly the infraction is, what the NCAA’s response might be – with the NCAA, it is impossible to predict — and how Harbaugh and Manuel will react to the NCAA’s conclusions aren’t yet known. U-M insiders believe the NCAA will be announcing what the infraction is and what the penalty will be, if any, within the next few weeks.

Would that be the "Gattis banging the recruit's mom" thing? ( allegedly)

Rumor is that it's Matt Dudek (who is no longer with us) and it's got something to do with the Covid year. Also, supposedly, Harbaugh is pretty pissed because it's "minor" (whatever that means, not my words) and I guess he feels made an example of unfairly; you know, given that the NCAA doesn't enforce much of anything anymore.

You know the NCAA has made an example out of you when your sworn enemy has no idea anything even happened.

Bacon is an idiot. That is in no way what that quote means. It means that the ncaa would ignore violations at powerful cash cow schools and then crack down on some little guys to show they're really enforcing g the rules. The meaning of that quote is to express that a school like tsun would get the blind eye treatment.

It's gonna be improperly meeting with a recruit in person, during the plague. Whether or not you consider that a "major" violation will probably depend on how you feel about Michigan. I get it, Bacon is playing victim, but given how shady college football is right now, this does seem like "making sure we look busy."
