Boy do I love when a player knows he's gonna be a badass. Way to show the confidence in changing to a number like #1.

* Former starting offensive tackle Tim Schafer was working out on defense today with the defensive line.

Given that we only lost one DL from last season I think this speaks much more about the strength of the OL than any weakness in the DL. I have been predicting the reemergence of the OL for three years now. Might I finally be correct?

I'm really excited for dukes as well. And then this year if Lyons can continue to develop (coaches like his potential) we might finally have a jump ball receiver to go along with all 4 of our speedsters. Talk about coming a long way from the days of Rambo/Germany.

Agreed. And along with them is Hartline and Jordan. We're gonna have trouble keeping all these guys happy with playing time.

We seem to have an embarassment of talent at TE right now too. The threat of our passing game should make the going easier for Haw and Pittman and maybe some substantial playing time for Wells thrown in.

Also, Donte Whitner is practicing with the safeties. Nate Salley said that Sirjo Welch will be moved to CB and that he trusts him anywhere on the field. Donte said that he's going to tighten up his coverage skills in case he has to make a move to CB at a later point.

I though Sirjo and Salley were both worse in coverage than Whitner. Sirjo didn't impress me with coverage skill in high school at all. I feel this position may be a weakness. Of course coach Tressel wants a solid tackler first on the boundary corner (Fox). Still I'm surprised Whitner isn't on the corner with Salley, Tyler and Sirjo at Safety.

Corner may be a weaker point this year.

Oiler,
Very true. Coach gave up any kind of coverage with Fox because he was a sure tackler. Worst cover guy I have ever seen, though.

If Whitner can do BOTH then I don't understand why he wouldn't use him there.
