Spring Football - 2005 (mega-merge)

just wanted to throw this out there, Texas reported 45k or something like that, atm reported 50k. According to friends that were at each neither attendance was anywhere close to those numbers. For some reason exagerating spring game numbers has become the norm across the country. I guess it might be able to be used in recruiting. I have never been to a buckeye spring game but I would be willing to lay some vcash that the true attendance of your spring game is closer to 30k or less. The problem is that I can almost guarantee that the reported number will be fabricated and thus will have no way to prove what the real number is.

I'm still betting the Pittman will be the starter.
They'll probably start Pittman, but I'd bet that the two will get an almost equal number of reps through the first few games. Maybe one will emerge as being superior to the other for this reason or that, but they'll both play a large amount of all games.

I also didn't hear anything about Roy Hall. Is he at WR, TE, or FB? Did he do anything?
I think they're moving him to quarterback. Or maybe center or forward. I hear they're also thinking of moving him to goalie.

What has me excited are the things that aren't being mentioned. The formations, how teddy's being used, etc. On top of that it looks like everything but an edge rusher is gonna be solid this year. Not everything will be outstanding (ie our boundary corner will probably avoid big letdowns but not win any awards), but 2005 is looking brighter with each passing day.

I wouldn't have been so picky, but that was from your own post.
Me, overlook a detail? Shocking, I never lose my foc... ooh, shiny thing... bbl

Another thing worth pointing out is that it sounded like we passed 100 times, and obviously with all three QB's being decently mobile and JT loving QB draws they probably had a few more designed pass plays.

Maybe the days are gone where JT will continue to run the ball to control the game even when the pass is our best weapon. I hope he did that last year because we were inexperienced. Hopefully this year we're gonna start lighting it up (tho I don't expect to see non-conservative passing once we're up by two scores).

Tressel will always run the ball to "control the game". In my mind, to "control the game" is what many other refer to "running out the clock". Even when Smith was lighting up Michigan, when it came down to crunch time in the fourth quarter, we ran the ball every play...he was "controlling the game".

Doubtful...running the football is essential to success. Even the pass-happy Florida teams of the 90's were extremely effective running the ball. Just being effective in both ground and air, regardless of which ever sets the other one up, should get the offensive results the fans desire.

However, if you are waiting on JT to score 50+ each week, you will be waiting for a long time IMHO.

That reminds me.. Tressel often states that his goal for every game (other than winning each one) is to get 250 pass yards and 200 rushing yards. Has an OSU team gotten that under Tressel? I thought he would against Michigan, but conservative playcalling toward the end of the game left him short (241 pass yards, I believe, and I forget how many rushing yards).
