Excellent choice for dinner! You better have gotten the world's best onion rings that they stack high on a pole... I hate onion rings and those are one of my favorite things to order anywhere in michigan... (I was at Clementine's Wed night, you?)

I'll let you buy the tickets if you buy me some more of those onion rings that melt in your mouth... mmm....

I hate it when you have a third down and hells bells is playing and people act like it is first and ten. Get the fuck up!!!

There is a reason they call it home field advantage. It helps on all plays.

I know people have watched games when the announcers says they have taken the crowd out of the game. That is b/c of people like the ones that sit on theirs hands.

I am the type of person that is the first one up and the last one down. I feel like I payed to help the team win. Not just watch them win. That is why they call the crowd the 12th man. It makes the other team not people able to hear the plays and cause a distraction for them.

Lets take Duke's Cameron Indoor stadium for example. It is a hostile environment for a reason. It doesnt get that way by people going to the game and sitting on their hands. The people are yelling and screaming and making it a living nightmare on the other team.

You go to a football game expecting to stand for big plays.

There is tv timeouts and halftime for breaks.

I was at the scUM game last year and it was the greatest time of my life b/c I couldnt hear myself think after the game. I still tell the story to everyone how I went crowd surfing after Teddy returned his punt for a td. God I can't wait for the UT game. It will be intense.

simply announcing that everyone behind you can kiss your ass because YOU ARE GOING TO STAND, is rude, and very typical of today's loudmouth, drunk, obese, self-absorbed, me-first, illiterate culture.

I'm not obese...

I sit at games: during the long TV TO's, when there is an injury, when the opposing team scores, or when everyone else is sitting and I am the only person standing.

I stand at games: during every critical moment, when ther urge hits me, when my buddy is mixing us a drink, when the ball is thrown deep, on big plays, big hits...and numerous other moments when the football gods request our standing attention.

I see both sides of the argument here...

I would like to think that no one stands for every second of the entire game. I myself, although in great shape for being 48, most likely won't be standing the entire time...in fact, I can say for sure I won't be standing for 3+ hours straight. However, I can guarantee you that every snap I'll be on my feet screaming my ass off...I'm not flying 10,000 miles roundtrip and spending well over $1,000 to sit on my hands just because some nimrod behind me wants to plant his/her fat ass in the seat for the whole game.

osugrad21 pretty much summed up how I'll most likely portion out my standing/sitting ratio.

I'm refraining from the poll because none of the choices reflect my opinion.

My perspective is very simple: your "rights" end where another's begin. Just think about that the next time the guy behind you yells "sit down" and you think "fuck you".

I stood most of the scUM game, and my voice was gone by the end of the 3rd quarter (man, that was fun). However, I also was cognizant of the old man behind me. I didn't stand unless the guy in front of me stood (but I still yelled my ass off!), because the man behind me had a hard time getting to his seat, and could never stand the whole game. Even then, I crouched as much as I could so he could see the game, too. It worked beautifully. This man loved the Buckeyes, and he was cheering the team on before I was even conceived, so he deserved that much respect. Does that mean he wasn't as passionate about the Buckeyes as the rest of us? Hell no. He loved SEEING us stomp the shit out of scUM, and he cheered as best he could. He just wasn't physically able to stand all day. Does that mean he doesn't have the "right" to SEE the game from the seat he purchased? Hell no. Think about that.

Stand as much as you like, so long as you show some consideration for your fellow Buckeyes, who may not have your physical prowess, but whose hearts bleed Scarlet and Gray just like you.

Again, think about it.

Good points, but those are not the type of people we are talking about.

We are talking about the people that are able to stand and just don't like to get up and down for big plays and that type of thing. Big third downs, goal line stands. They want to sit on their hands and yell down in front. Those are the ones.

Also the people like the guy you were talking about need to understand that it is a football game and people will be standing, which it seems like he understood.

Well this whole situation pisses me off b/c at my school we had a good girls bball team and we had a pretty big cheering section and when we were going to state, there were parents that would sit behind the student section and told us to sit down. Now how stupid is that.

Even though I am waffling on this issue...I would also debate the merits of every person in that stadium being a fan. tOSU games are as much a social function for some as they are a major sporting event for others.

It is very easy for either side of this debate to pigeon hole the other side into some stereotype. However, the fact is, tOSU on saturdays is made of every possible degree of fan ranging from those who know there is some type of game happening to those who could tell you Jim Tressel's shoe size.

I believe you meant shoe size !

But there is one thing that every fan in the stadium should understand and that is homefield advantage. If someone wants to show their emotion a little more than you, you should respect in and not bitch at them.

Watched the scUM game standing sideways, balanced on one foot, getting smacked by cheering elbows, dodging the occasional retching of the drunken fan behind me, asking people in the next row to rearrange themselves so the 6'3" guy isn't in front of me, and having people screaming in my ear for hours, after driving all night for the privilege.

Happiness :)

Can't wait for fall...
