I missed Phosphorescent at A&R Bar last week. So pissed. Anyone happen to see that show? Also going to miss Pixies at The LC this week.

We Are Scientists at The Basement on 4/24. The 1975 at The LC on 5/5. Those are shows I will be at coming up. Definitely want to see Neutral Milk Hotel on 7/20.

I haven't made it to a show this year (I'm mad I didn't get a Pixies ticket when I had the chance).

I'm going to the Arctic Monkeys // The Orwells show on the 11th, which I think will be excellent. A lot of good concerts are already being announced this year, so far.

Show rocked... Frank/Francis is just a machine. The new chick is solid, vocally very similar to Kim, but they also did not play any of the songs that feature Kim. Place was wall to wall packed and the crowd was amazingly diverse lots of gray hair and a surprising number of young people. I even saw a family there with their kids that looked to be 10-12 years old. They played a long set of mostly the classic stuff with a few of the new songs mixed in. they are so tight live and just rock solid. One of my all time favorite bands.

I'm not much on concerts at this point (never have been really -- damn kids with their rock and/or roll music), but I ended up at the Black Keys (+Cage the Elephant) concert at the Schott last Friday.

Cage the Elephant was pretty meh (although I actually prefer their music to the Black Keys overall). They played a great set of songs, but the place was half-full while they were on, so the echoes threw everything out of balance. Just way too loud -- and not in the good way. Matt Shultz, although his energy was ridiculous, was just too far over-the-top. You could barely understand him as he was singing/screaming and he went crowd surfing on no less than three occasions. Oh and also ripped his shirt off. Fucking rockstars.

The Black Keys, however, were outstanding. Much, much better overall presentation (as would be expected) with the lighting and sound work, not to mention the quality of their performance. I don't love all of their songs on the radio, but in that setting, they were all outstanding. Would definitely go again. If you like them and get a chance to see them live, do it.
