Be there on the 9th...

MrCurtj - I'm definitely down to come by your fesitivities, I just have to see if I can convince the rest of my crew to shell out the cash to make it there. We're going to be arriving on Friday around lunch and I've been told by Scooter that would give us plenty of time to get a parking spot at a lot.

And the shirts are going to get made... i'm still bitter about the no alcohol deal since I'm anticipating that weekend being one of the best college football experiences of my life.

Saying that... I sent REMOVEHER a PM asking for a high res pic of Holbrooks face for the t-shirt but haven't heard back so if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

And Hawaiian - I'm definitely up for pounding a few cold ones. I'll bring this thread back up a week before the game so look for it.

Thanks Orange Blood

How many folks are in your crew? We could probably work out a group rate. The Texas Hold em tournament has gotten a great response and I think it will be pretty cool to give the winner tickets to the game. You all be safe on your trip in to town.

Sorry orange blood I didn't notice the PM. I'll read it now and get back with you. If you get these shirts made You'll have to come get your photos with us. I just got my first shipment of 2005 shirts in the mail and they are sweet!

Just to be fair to our out-of-town guests, you can find a lot cheaper entertainment than by shelling out $60 just for the opportunity to get into a bar and spend even more money on alcohol. All kinds of bars will be having specials. No offense to anyone, but I personally don't see the point of shelling out $60 if you aren't even going to have beer included.

Seeing Pat Green sure isn't worth the money either, I think he used to play the back room of Bob Popular's when there was a $5 cover. How many songs can you listen to about how much the guy likes beer anyway?

Just a random thought here, but of all the out-of-conference opponents we've had over the last decade or so, I definitely feel like the Longhorn fans we've met (for the most part) have been the most like us. In the way they see and feel about their program, ability to really talk football, the way they want to have fun, etc. To quote from Orgazmo, I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothin'... but based on the excitement surrounding this H/A series, and the commonalities and parallels between the two fan bases, I'd really like to see more meetings with Texas set up down the road.

You guys aren't allowed to leave the site after our game. Have to stick around and talk about the rest of the season with us, and of course there's still next year to discuss too.

Bashing the Bash Before the Clash

I appreciate the positive and negative feedback equally believe it or not. I know there is some sticker shock on the tix but please consider every thing you get first before you bash it any further.

Breaking down the ticket price:

If I could do an open bar, believe me, I would. There is some liability issue with an open bar so we have to charge a dollar-the savings on all drinks is built in to the ticket price. Just think about what you spend on a regular night on beer and liquor drinks at a decent bar and the experience you get with that.

We have 3 bands that are all very different. I totally understand that many people saw Pat many years ago for 5 bucks at various small bars-I wish I did and could pay those prices. Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, The Rolling Stones, whomever.. all played at small bars at some point with a 5 buck cover (a nickel cover charge for the Stones back then, right?)... If you do not like Pat (the "new" Pat or the "old" Pat) then I will never convince you at any price that this is worth it. Pat is Pat, he WILL play his old stuff and totally appreciates his Texas fans despite the fact that he moved to Nashville. He still attracts tons of beautiful Texas girls to his shows. People should be happy for him that he is making a move up. Pat is not the whole show though....

Another band is James Gage, a young Columbus musician who puts on a hell of a good show. He does country cover songs and some of his own material and is a heck of a nice guy with big dreams. I have had a lot of fun working, am proud to support a local musician and guarantee people will like him.

The Reaganomics (no political affiliations here) do 80's cover music and put on a great show. If you hate 80's music, all apologies, but again they are a fraction of the show.

DJ Sexton-will play regular club/dance music late in to the night.

We have Brutus (waiting to here about Bevo and the cheerleaders) and a lot of other interesting pieces to party.

We have a Texas Hold em' tournament that will net game tickets to the winner and other awesome prizes. A raffle for game tix and a memorobilia auction will also take place. Every one at the party will have a chance to win tickets.

The famous Schmidt's Sausage Haus will be doing the food. We will have a local radio station live from the venue. I am working on fireworks, a hot air balloon, and all sorts of other cool stuff. I am really going out on a limb to make it unlike any party that has ever taken place in Columbus. You will probably see me in handcuffs that night for some of the stuff we are trying to do (just kidding).

If I did not believe there is a lot of value in this party I would not do it, it is not my full time job but I promise you I know how to give people their monies worth. I have worked on this thing for over 6 months and I guarantee there will not be a better value in town. If you like high school football, go to the game, I am sure it will be interesting then come to the party afterwards.

If I could charge $5 at the door and raise $20,000 + dollars for Stefanie Spielman and pay all teh vendors and bands, believe me, I would.

So a true breakdown if it helps you decide would be to think of it this way: ($20 for dollar drink piece + $20 for all bands, entertainment, expenses+$20 for Stefanie Spielman) If you have 5 drinks, you are out 5 bucks. How much are you paying for game tickets?....

This is the first time the two schools have ever met since the teams started their programs in the 1890's. Go ahead and blow it out this weekend.

I hope this helps and I hope you all can make it. If you go and have a bad time I will give your money back on the spot.

I have to agree with Clarity. Anyone who takes the removeholbrook.com logo and makes a Texas version is ok in my book! Now don't go and get all bitter after sept 10th

Heaven forbid you'd let reality, and the law, get in the way of a good scapegoat.
