Tajh Boyd (official thread)

I'd love for Ohio State to land this kid, just to have depth at the position.

Even without him, I'd trust coach Tressel to build an offense around his personnel, if injuries for us to screw the pooch. The offense would change based on QB, unlike RichRod.

But Boyd seems to fire the ball nicely.

I like what I saw from his Junior film. Great at playaction. Tries to put the ball where only the receiver can catch it. Can work out of the I-Form and the Shotgun, which is a necessity at Ohio State. When he scrambles out of the pocket, he shows great athleticism.

Sometimes the first and/or last impression can capture a kid. If Tajh does not want to visit with Newsome, I'd hope he visits Ohio State just before signing day.

I wouldn't blame his father if he didn't want his son side-by-side with another recruit who plays the same position.

If the staff really wants him, I'd say let's rearrange Newsome's visit and go from there.

Just forget Newsome IMO.. kid is likely going to Va Tech barring something crazy..

Didn't someone here also say that our staff doesnt even want Newsome as a QB, they are looking at him as more of an athlete

BN$-Buckeyes Set To Stop At Boyd's School

Tajh's father says they may not be coming to Columbus 12/12 because he isnt sure if the staff wants Tajh and Newsome there together. He feels Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State are the main schools right now.

Well, I know I'm way too logical, but...let's examine this.

Oregon: Has 5 QBs on the roster. 3 sophs and 2 frosh.

PSU: Other than than the JoePa instability issue, they probably look pretty attractive to Boyd. Clark and Devlin will both be seniors next year correct? The only other QB they have is a preferred walk on named McGloin. They have no one committed for this year's class either.

The Bucks would obviously look attractive as well, but could be a dogfight with PSU.

This might be interesting. It would be awesome to snag a QB in this class.

Here's a little article from ESPN today....

"Ohio State jumps in the mix for Tajh Boyd
ESPNU 150 quarterback Tajh Boyd, recently decommitted from Tennessee, is now very interested in Ohio State, affiliate Web site Bucknuts.com reports.

His father, Tim Boyd, said, "Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State are the main three to me right now. He wants to go to a BCS school and he wants to go out-of-state."

He added, "They (Ohio State) are supposed to be at our school today. The assistant quarterbacks coach (Nick Siciliano) called and said he was coming to the school. Ohio State hasn't offered a scholarship. Coach Siciliano said he has to wait to talk with coach (Jim) Tressel this weekend."

Boyd threw for over 2,000 yards as a junior and surpassed the 1,500 yards mark through the air this season despite missing time with a knee injury.

Programs such as Boston College, South Florida, Louisville, Florida State and South Florida amongst others have also offered."
