Tajh Boyd (official thread)

No. The offer was not verified until the Jardy article.

I know that this was just a formality, but I'm still glad to see the title change. I'm sure the BPRT knew there was an offer, but for dolt's like me, it's good to see.

This young man really fits the mold of what the staff tries to accomplish with a QB. That's probably also true at BC, so that might not be saying much, but you can certainly see why the staff would have a high interest in him.

Last time I will post this....

Right place, Right time!!!!

I love when parents are involved in a young person's life, and it seems like Tajh's father is hands on without being a thorn in his son's side, unlike other parents we have seen in the past.

I think JT will be a breath of fresh air for Tajh and his family!!

Penn State is all in on Kevin Newsome, and Kevin is NOT going to VT. PSU won't be all over Tajh Boyd, not until PSU knows for certain what is going on with Newsome, and IMHO we won't be needing Tajh's services.

There are no certainties. That being said, Kevin Newsome is not going to VT. :tongue2: KN was already visited at home by PSU coaches this week, and is now on his official throughout this weekend. His OC at Hargrave was FORMER PENN STATER Troy Davis.

At this point it would be an upset if anyone jumped PSU, and from what I have read Newsome is simply showing respect at this point in time while trying to be polite...Beamer has been recruiting the kid since before he was in high school.

Whoops.

I really hope we land Boyd, and it's a great sign that he looks up to Troy (and.. nice tag ).

If we don't, our depth issues at QB will be glaringly obvious and problematic.. If Pryor goes down...

If he does decide to join the family, our depth issue will be MUCH better.. And depending on how fast he learns, he could get PT pretty early on in '10 (I'd assume he'd redshirt) as I'd assume we'd open up some big leads on at least a few opponents. Maybe we could even see lineups occasionally (by which I mean.. like.. twice :p) with both Pryor and Boyd.. And then in '11 he could have a legit shot at starting.

Plus it'd continue Tressel's streak of getting the QBs he likes.. He definitely loves the mobile QB who can throw. Not the QB who can run and sort of throw, but the pass-first QB who can also burn you, or at least keep a play alive with his feet. Tressel just seems so much more comfortable with playcalling with that type of QB.

This would just be so good for both sides IMO. It would really eliminate one of the only weaknesses of this amazing class, and for Boyd I can't imagine a better scenario (although obviously I don't know him). Get taught by Tressel and become his own form of Troy. Not the next Troy but the first Tajh Boyd who embodies all that is great about the Scarlet and Gray.

Agreed. If he enrolls in the Spring as planned, he will have the benefit of Spring ball and fall practice to get acclimated to the college game. He can then red shirt or move into a back up roll if needed. I'm not sure Joe Bauserman is gone. I am hearing he plans to stay at OSU.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - U.S. Army AA Bowl adds Tajh Boyd at QB (free)

Having been an active recruiter on the combine circuit, does Boyd feel like the worm has turned and that other kids are going to be in his ear in San Antonio?

"Yes, most definitely, but I'm just looking forward to playing with guys like Bryce Brown, Dorian Bell, and Corey Brown. There is a whole bunch of great players who will be in this game."

So which schools are leading the hunt right now?

"I have four schools in mind - Ohio State, Oregon, Virginia and Boston College. I only have three visits left so I am going to sit down and talk with my parents about where to go, but I definitely know that Ohio State and Oregon will be two of my visits. I'm just at a point where I want to find the school that I am most comfortable with."

This is truly reading too much into it and wishful thinking, but make any list of your favorite things (movies, television shows, teams, etc.). Many times, your true favorite you subconsciously list first.

In many interviews and statements, both Tajh and his father list Ohio State followed by the other schools (Oregon, Penn State, Boston College and so on).

It's reading too much into it but Pryor listed Ohio State first a lot in 2007 and 2008 in interviews. Hope the coaching staff can close the deal, but I'm sure they'll be fine regardless.
