Tennessee lands eight commitments in one day

It’s hard to say what the record for total stars gained in one day of recruiting — especially outside of National Signing Day — but the guess here is that Tennessee just approached it.

On Saturday, Butch Jones and his Vols boosted their future rosters by landing commitments from eight three-star recruits — a total of 21 stars added to the club’s 2017 recruiting haul, and three to the 2018 class.

I have a buddy who is a big Vols fan, so I pay attention to what is going on there some, and I generally hope they do well - for his sake.

Setting the off-the-field stuff aside, I can't believe the hype that is being laid on this team. They haven't won anything since Fulmer left there. Last year they lost 4 games and beat NW in a bowl game. No disrespect to NW, but I don't think beating them qualifies as a sign that a program is all the way back. On paper they do look pretty good in terms of talent and experience, but that program hasn't won big in a long, long time. They have been closer to a dumpster fire than they have been to an elite program. No one on that team knows what winning big looks like or how to get there. There have been a lot of distractions/controversies, and Butch Jones has shown a capacity to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I'm smelling a big letdown for my bud. Reminds me of how Auburn was going to win the SEC West last year and their QB was going to be a Heisman candidate. Uh, yeah.

Bristol Motor Speedway gets time-lapse treatment as it preps for Va Tech-Tennessee

The only good thing to come out of it is that scUM & "the big S.H.I.T house" might not have the single game attendance record any more....8D

On September 7, 2013 the game between Michigan and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish attracted a crowd of 115,109, a record attendance for a college football game since 1927, and an NCAA single-game attendance record, overtaking the 114,804 record set two years previously for the same match up.

In some of those end zone seats you might need a telescope (i.e. binoculars won't be strong enough) to see the field...

Beat me to it. This game will set the record for number of worst seats not remotely worth the money and definitely not better than just watching from the couch at home.

I'm skeptical those seats will actually be full. Of course it will be a sellout/near sellout, because you can't have something like this not at least be stated as a sellout. The front row seats are probably farther from the field than the first row of C Deck.

I expect better from the south, God damn it. I want them to play the game while an actual nascar semi-truck race is circling the field on the track and one end zone has midget rasslin' while the other has a cockfight pit.

Fuck circling the field, I want a nascar truck race on a figure-8 track which intersects at the 50 yard line while the game is in progress.

Tony Stewart vs Josh Dobbs's forehead. Who ya got?
