The Game: ttun at tOSU, Dec. 12 (cancelled by cowardly Vulvarines)

Total fucking joke that they'll be no game this weekend. Better pray that NW can play next week. You'd think they'd be willing to let them find their own game at this point.

Not sure how high the expectations for this team can be when, if they get into the playoffs, they'll have played less then half a season (assuming CCG). Major disadvantage against Bama, ND, Clemson, who have had a lot more time to learn and grow.

Just sayin': Not injury wise, how many key players does Ohio State have out for the year due to season ending injuries compared to the other teams? As far as I know the only significant player the Buckeyes have lost is Cameron Brown.

And that doesn't even count the "dinged up, game time decision" players the other schools have too.

And if Cooper had gone .500 against Michigan he would've coached another 10 years here. Say he coached 23 years here and went 11-11-1, it would've been actually the same as him going 2-10-1 and then Tressel going 9-1 against Michigan. In fact, Tressel is better because although the records are the same, Tressel set total the domination in place (Meyer at 7-0 and Day at 1-0 so far).
Yes and no. Michigan losses may have greased the slide, but the team’s behavior in the bowl game against South Carolina sealed the deal.

I'd think in this situation they'd put someone/anyone in the championship game vs us.

True, that is a plus. Just feels like this team would benefit more from game time. Nothing to do about it now. Hopefully they play next week.

Both are good points.
Hard to know how many of those on "the list" are for physical injuries other than Covid and exposure.
I am very selfish, though, I wanted to watch them play again this weekend, for a change.

We lost to South Carolina in two straight bowls, one under the last season of Cooper and one under the first year of Tressel.
True, but the first game was a disaster with the Bucks getting several unsportsmanlike penalties including a personal foul out in the open and caught on camera. It was obvious Coop had lost control of the team and he was fired as soon as the plane landed back in Columbus.

Lou Holtz has commented on the difference between those two Buckeye teams, Cooper's last and Tressel's first, how Cooper's team was disinterested and unfocused while Tressel's team was more disciplined. Even though both games resulted in a loss for the Buckeyes, he could see the changes that Tressel was bringing to the program.

I spent New Year's Eve 2000 in San Francisco and, returning home to Columbus International, our pilot announced that John Cooper had been fired. A cheer went up among the Buckeye fans on that plane. I was dining at Champp's at Crosswoods the night Tressel was introduced at the OSU-Michigan basketball game. Everyone fell silent when they turned off the music and switched to the game broadcast as Tressel gave his 310 days speech. That place erupted.

SKULL SESSION: TEXAS A&M FANS THINK THEIR RECORD IS BETTER THAN OHIO STATE, THE GAME'S CANCELLATION COST FOX $18 MILLION, AND MIKE TOMLIN PRAISES CHASE YOUNG

CANCELLATION HIT WHERE IT HURTS. The players, coaches and fans on both sides of The Game are understandably crushed that this year's edition of the rivalry will not be played.

But there's a third party who is feeling that pain a little deeper – in the pockets.

Losing the Ohio State-Michigan game because of a COVID-19 outbreak is a costly blow for Fox Sports in terms of cash and audience.

Fox enjoyed an estimated $18.5 million in TV advertising revenue from last year’s OSU-UM game, per New York City-based ad spending tracker Standard Media Index.

The network won’t lose out on that much this year, but it’s not far from that number, according to a source familiar with the situation.

$18 million just went up in flames because Michigan couldn't field a team. You hate to see that.

I feel your pain, Fox. I too missed out on a gigantic paycheck when Ohio State covered the 30-point spread with ease on Saturday. It ruined Christmas for my whole family. My cats might not eat.

Just sayin': FOX Sports should send a bill for their losses to Ann Arbor.....
