Things to see in Washington D.C.

DC is a cool place, very different vibe than other cities. Cool things to see-

Smithsonian-Air and Space, American History are can't miss, Natural History is very cool

Ford's Theater-right up the street from the Smithsonian, arrange an FBI tour as well very cool, and in the same neighborhood as Ford's/the Mall/Smithsonian

Arlington-do not miss the Iraq War Artist's Memorial-icon like paintings/drawings/etchings of fallen veterans in dozens of different styles but the same 8x10 inch canvas-incredibly moving

Food-Bullfeather's on Capital Hill-good burgers/bar grub and you might see a member of Congress getting tanked if you go in the evening; Smithsonian American Indian Museum Cafeteria-Native American cuisine-very different and very good, especially for lunch; Phillips Seafood on the waterfront-good stuff; Orleans House-good prime rib, salad bar

Be forwarned-DuPont Circle is the epicenter of DC's active 'alternative lifestyle"scene if that is or isn't your scene

Where exactly is that place in Washington? I hear Chris Matthews and mike Barnicle pop in there on occasion.
