This is worse than Clarett.

This is the 3rd major violation in the last 2 years, that's what is frustrating! Actually it's well over 3 violations, but it just involves 3 different parties. Clarett, O'bie, and now Troy Smith.

Of course if it comes down to Troy receiving a free t-shirt or something, I'll recant all this and ding myself into scum oblivion. However, the speculation points elsewhere.
I'd say it's definitely speculation to call this a 'major' violation at this point. Players get suspended for single games frequently. FYI, Oregon State has suspended 4 for their bowl game this year, it's not big news.

This is probably something that wouldn't even have been caught without the microscope that MoC's comments put the program under. And Geiger jumped on it quickly, as he should.

For the record, I do not have a problem with Smith, but I certainly have a problem with what he has just done. Quit with the kids will be kids shit because it's getting old, Smith is an adult and he knows what he is getting himself into.

By the way, there is a difference between character issues, and "Deep" character issues.

I'm not saying kids will be kids... I'm not saying the kid hasn't fucked up before... what I have a problem with is certain people on here going into their Ivory tower routines and playing the "I told you so" game and throwing troy and Tressel and Geiger under the bus...

Maybe I'm wrong... but... to highlight phrease like, ‘‘God chooses different roads for you — you’re put in different situations for a reason," Smith said. ‘‘That’s what separates the men from the mice." and then call that hypocritical seems a bit ver critical to me....

Lets have a show of hands who could say the same things about their job as a context, and not being a HS or college student athlete and then find themselves posting on this message board at work? People depend on other people at work to get theri jobs done... and your family depends on you to do a good job and make money... and if you did better, maybe you can make more money... but instead... they're messing around here.

Maybe that's hypocritical too.

Its not that I'm not pissed off that Troy got in trouble... its not that I'm not frustarated that it seems like every week there is new drama... but I do take exception to the implication that the kids has made few mistakes (None of which to me appear to be exceptionally egregious in nature) and there are people... and I'm certainly not just talking to daddy here... who want to assassinate his character when I suspect they haven't looked too closely at themselves.

Anyway... I suppose we'll find out what he did... for sure... before too long, and I expect we have a pretty good grip on it already, but the unfortunate thing is that beign a sports fan... this is all part of the territory... You don't have to be a good person to be a good athlete... we see it everywhere every day... and you aren't a bad person because you make mistakes... Troy is either going to learn from this or he isn't.. so I guess we'll find out how he reacts. Naysaying after the fact is useless... he's a Buckeye now...

Is it unfortunate that the team has to suffer from his mistake? Of course... but its better that they suffer and this particular episode ends here, and we reload and try to do it right the next time. And its better to have a next time than not be playing... with or without Troy...
