Thoughts on Spurrior's return

You would think Holtz would have left more talent for 3 years worth of probation.

They didn't look too good, but remember that Holtz was recruiting for a run oriented offense. Spurrier now has to take those guys and use them in the fun and gun offense. Kind of like shoving a square peg in a round hole.

...and I still hate Spurrier.

Yeah I thought of that but it doesn't explain the overall lack of size/physicality on both sides of the LOS. If he's been recruiting for a run oriented attack they sure did get shoved around a lot last night and by a terrible opponent.

Whatever the reason, its a moot point. Stevie is going to struggle this year and he has scholarship reductions as part of the probation iirc. The secret to his success at UF was an outstanding DC and someone to do the recruiting for him...look at who fills those roles at USC(I have no idea) and you'll be able to judge Spurriers chances imo.

I think Terico (sp?) made the comment last night that the SEC better watch out. That may be true in the future but I don't believe SC is a team that's going to light up the SEC this season. Although they could be dangerous at the end of the year.

I'm surprised Tirico didn't decide to come out of the closet and propose to either Spurrier or the the QB (Mitchell?) during the game. With the way he was praising them, it was like Spurrier was still back in Florida, coaching Danny Wuerffel. Herbstreit was pretty bad, too. Normally I like all three of those guys. But they were driving my nuts last night. It was against Central Florida! Get over it! The OSU cheerleader chick who kicked the field goal during the Fiesta Bowl a couple years ago could beat UCF!

I see you noticed the gigantic holes the USC defense was leaving up front too :)

They would have 1 defensive lineman, and 3 or 4 guys rushing form the outside and there was NOBODY in the middle for at least 10 or 15 yards except for the one lineman...UCF is a young team and just getting started, but they should have recognized that and audibled a quick run/draw up the gut instead of dropping back and getting taken for a loss

A lot of Cobwebs

The offence looked good as far as the passing is concerned, but to win games you have to get more than 44 yards rushing to win ball games. On deffence the secondary looked excellent I seen a lot of open feild tackels. But playing Central Florida you have to show me a little more than that. Good luck against Georgia

Go Buckeyes:oh: :io:
