Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

Did you reserve some hot pasta water to blend in? Make carbonara quite a bit but never thought about "shine".
I did but might have not been enough or I wasn't stirring fast enough, or added too fast to temper the yolks? I mean it didn't turn into scrambled eggs but I felt like it really wanted to.

Maybe could of used more water. Add a little at time...too much water ruins it. I'll saute the pancetta and then let cool. When the pasta is about done I turn the pan back on low, remove a cup of water and transfer the pasta to the pan wihtout draining. should be enough water (from the undrained pasta) to start to simmer and then add the egg/cheese mixture using whatever of the pasta water you need while tossing with tongs. I pour the stock pot of water into a stainless bowl, drain it and dump the carbonnara into that...toss a bit more..and serve. Having the eggs room temp before starting helps. Might need to make this tomorrow.

Yeah, I think I didn't use enough water.... I also did it with fresh pasta which made "everything that required timing to be happening all at once"

What do you guys do for the Super Bowl or if you host a party for a big Buckeyes game?

Do you:

1). Mash-Mash of fingerfoods/appetizers/dips? Just a bunch of stuff for people to pick at and graze?

2). More of a structured meal. Obviously not sit-down/formal but only 1-2 dishes?

I don't know which one I prefer. I like wings and dips and sides and shitty appetizer food...etc

But two years ago when Cincinnati was in the Super Bowl we went over to a friends house to let the kids play and she made two different trays of lasagna (a white one and a traditional one) with garlic bread and salads and that was awesome.

I find sometimes with the all finger food scenario I’m still hungry afterwards. The lasagna option sounds awesome.

I haven't watched a Superbowl since the Cardinal-Steeler Superbowl, whenever that was. The only reason I watched it was because my wife ironically invited her coworker over for the game. My wife hates sports but since she knows that I'm kind of into them and her coworker didn't have anyone to watch the game with she volunteered myself to watch the game with her. After that final touchdown catch a fight broke out next door and it rolled out into the park across the street and the cops were called. The only other game I have seen parts of was the infamous Seahawk game where they threw on 4th down at the goal line instead of handing it to Lynch. I was in a small restaurant in Casa Grande and the game happened to be on.
