Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

As someone who hasn't kept especially close tabs on this stuff (including the Withers situation) in the past, I have one question.

For the sake of this question, assume that Beck is gone. What is the realistic timing of his departure? Is it almost certainly after the bowl game or would it likely happen sooner rather than later? If after the bowl game, how long after? I would assume the merciful thing is to do it asap to give him the most time to try to catch on elsewhere?

As long as Beck is on staff it is nothing to concern yourself with.

Who is the ND OL coach who stole the best two OL from Ohio from us...if Wariner can be a good OC if dedicated full time, can we bring the ND coach to be our OL coach and maybe bring a full time QB coach?

Assuming that Urban will hire a coach on defense to replace Ash, your scenario will have OSU have one too many coaches.

I figured as much but just a thought. That guy is worth looking at and it would not be the first time we take a coach from ND. Anyway, I don't think Beck is going anywhere based on all the recruiting trips he is making.

Yea, I think 3 of the 4 playoff teams last year would easily win it this year. Even last year's Oregon team is on the mark with this year's Oklahoma (favored to win it from what I'm reading) Bama's '14 team would crush their '15 team.
Yup and I'd even have FSU as the favorites over any of the teams this year. They'd have more trouble than the other three but they could get it done.

The consensus here is we have a Beck problem, I don't know. So is everyone saying if Beck remains we have a problem with UFM? I don't know the dynamic up at WHAC which is why I can't blame Beck totally. If Beck is gone then it was a Beck problem.

It's my understanding that Urban asks assistants for a two-year minimum commitment. Based on that, perhaps he has a handshake agreement for reciprocity with them. My guess is that UrbaN continues to marginalize Beck and encourages him to look at other options. If that doesn't work, I suspect that OSU will stick with him in a reduced role for another year and then can him if significant improvement isn't seen. The problem is that that role is probably QB coach, and I'm convinced that he's not good at that. There is a long-term program interest in showing loyalty to assistant coaches, within reason, and with next year expected to be a rebuilding year (by OSU standards), perhaps keeping Beck in a more limited role for one more year is (barely) within reason.

Urban is human. He made a mistake in the hire and it went badly.

He's got quite a bit on the positive side of the ledger for me to still be fully in the "trust Urban" mindset even if a few assistant hirings go awry.

Beck on the other hand has zero on the positive side of the ledger that I am aware of and a great big "2015" in giant red ink on the negative side so fuck him.

I don't see him going anywhere to be honest. Like many have said Urban asks for two years and I bet they give him two years.

We will not survive next year if we cannot get our throw game back next year (heck even against the domers). We won't have zeke and while I'm excited to see Weber/Samuel next year with JT running the read option it's paramount we get someone to teach JT what he needs to improve his throw game.

This year's team is like the 2013 team. Big and powerful but lacked the explosiveness out wide (how can that be with 1, 7, 2, 4, 21?).

Next year's team needs to get back to 2014 with the vertical threat, read option, and plat action
