tOSU +5.5 at Duke (ov/un 142.5) Wed 9:30 ESPN

I hate fucking Duke:evil: and their beloved fucking HC but I'm just not sure if we have the firepower in the middle to beat them at their place. Their little fucking crazies will be fired up after we :bonk: them last year. Also, I don't know if I can put up with that ass hole DV for an entire 2 hours because I am certain he will be calling that game.

I wish that Matta would have played a little tougher schedule this year to prepare us for a couple of the games that we have coming up. It is too bad that the Marquette game had to be canceled because that certainly would have helped us in preparing for a pretty good team.

It was funny hearing Coach Matta say on his show, "Yeah, we're not going to sneak up on 'em" (in response to Duke being fired up this year).

Hope the Buckeye defense is solid and we take care of the ball.

They didn't exactly sneak up on them last year. According to the rankings it was a top-10 matchup (possibly top-5) a year ago as well.

I think Duke is slightly overrated. They got UK when they were as green as it gets. They got an NIT Minnesota team and a VCU team that is having an NIT-caliber season. Then a Louisville team that was missing their star big man, and oddly enough they played a lot of zone against Duke which seems like a dumb strategy considering one of Duke's strengths offensively for years has been shooting open 3s, and this team is no different. So while Duke is in line for another #1 or #2 seed, I don't think when it's all said and done that they will be in the Elite 8 or F4, so this is a game that is a great opportunity for OSU to make some noise and get a marquee road win to improve their seed in the NCAA tourney.

If OSU guards the 3-point arc well, stays poised offensively and plays tough in the paint, they should win the game.

The nice thing about this game is only good should come of it. I'm not expecting a blowout loss (which, to me, would be the only bad result). This OSU team will not go undefeated. They'll lose eventually, and this game at Duke will only help them down the line. Duke will be favored, and even a close loss in a tough environment would do nothing but help this club going into B1G season. We saw the same last year in the loss to Kansas, albeit without Sully.

Now, I think they have a great chance to win, especially considering the way Scott has shown up lately, and his ability, along with Craft, to pressure the Duke guards. If they're able to limit the threes, and Ravenel and Amir can limit Plumlee from going off, I think Ohio State wins. And if they do win, this will look monumental when it comes time for NCAA bracketing. The ACC overall is not good, so Duke (who already has good OOC wins) is going to have a very, very good record at the end of the year, and will earn a very high seed as well. An OSU win over Duke will be very impressive on their resume.

To stay close, the buckeye centers are going to have to play some solid defense. And maybe make some free throws. Hate to be negative, but I am not holding my breath. Or maybe Thomas and Craft can just go off and shoot 70% from the field.

To be fair, I have a difficult time parsing their schedule to conclude they're overrated when we're ranked right there with them and have played lesser opponents.

I'm still in wait and see mode with our Buckeyes. I didn't expect to be ranked in the top 10 to open the season and I'm waiting for evidence to support it. Winning at Cameron would go a long way towards it. :)

Still amazing this is the Buckeyes' first visit to Cameron Indoor in program history.
but Thads been there before:wink:
“Only the Catamounts from Western Carolina. I can still remember, it was like 28-28, and I blacked out, and I woke up and it was 62-30.” — Ohio State coach Thad Matta, when asked whether he had taken a previous team into Cameron Indoor Stadium. Western Carolina, where Matta was an assistant for one season, lost 107-67 at Duke on Dec. 20, 1995.
