Let what they did never be forgotten. They should have been brought up on criminal charges, along with Mussellman (sp?).

You know, I'm honestly surprised that the '72 brawl wasn't one of the ESPN 30 for 30 films, considering Bill Simmons is the Executive Producer of the series and has mentioned the fight on his shows before.

It's amazing how different things are now. If this happened today it'd be wall-to-wall national TV coverage for a month.

With baseball fans being a conservative bunch, I don't think they would take well for a "star" commentator Dave Winfield's name put out there in scandal. Not too many people realize that Winfield even played basketball in college, let alone to know he was a part of one of the top 5 worst fights in all of sport.

I'm also sure ESPN wouldn't like to have its hall of fame announcer looking bad to the public.

I think every game against Minny - football, basketball, or any other sport - should be approached by the team being shown that video as a little extra encouragement. Those assholes can never pay enough for that bullshit.

And on that note, I fully expect the undercutting and other intentional fouling of Sullinger to be even worse than usual this game.

My blood boils every time I think about that game in '72. I really wish that tOSU had followed through with the threat to the Big Ten of Kick them out of the conference, or we walk. Somehow Wayne Duke reportedly was able to calm things down, but Minny, Musselman and the felonious players and fans suffered no consequences. They should be in some obscure conference playing Idaho State and North Dakota school for the blind after what they did.

Minnesota is (and will always be) my least favorite basketball team. Not only was Luke Witte never the same person after that game, but Fred Taylor was a different coach as well. Dave Winfield (and the others involved) can burn in hell.
