Game Thread tOSU at Miami FL, Sept 17, 7:30 pm ET, ESPN

One word that captures last night's game: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
One word that captures my mood now: rage, my roommate picked a good weekend to go home
What did I do after the 3rd quarter? Drink myself into oblivion. I'm not hungover, therefore God loves me.

Fuck, this game is finally setting in. We need to start fresh and work on the next few years. Start Brax, start the other youngins, go courtin for new OC, and reevaluate Luke after the season. I'm confident that maybe one of those things will happen. Until then, peace my brethen.

I'd love to see a comment from someone who was at the game regarding the receivers. Were they so blanketed the entire game that we couldn't throw any passes in rhythm?

As to drops. There were a couple but there were far more passes that were thrown too high, behind receivers, out of bounds, etc. It's pretty difficult to catch a pass when you have no idea if it will be in your zip code.

Ohio State's future at quarterback is not a 5th year senior who played baseball for 3 years. It's the young 5 star. Let's develop him for the future and if we have to take some lumps along the way then so be it.

I really feel for the seniors on this team that did things the right way during their stay at Ohio State and got stuck with this mess for their last year.

I guess being busy last night was a hidden, "Saving Grace". I didn't see the game, therefore, I can not give an opinion on the game. But, from what I can surmise is, that the Buckeyes need alot of work. Not just at one position, but many. Dang! It still hurts. Many things to review, and grow from them. The sun still came up this morning. New day. Hang tough gang!

Serious question: Let's suppose Luke is not retained as the HC at the end of the year and we bring in a big name coach. Do you as the new HC try to leave the defensive side of the ball intact? That is do you try to maintain the majority of the defensive coaches and schemes, and spend most of your time blowing up the offensive staff, evaluating those coaches and put your stamp on that side of the ball?

Would it be possible to retain any of the coaches and would they want to stay???

This is no knock on him. He has to grow and learn what to do in those situations. But I saw a lot of empty seats. How many people did they say were there 80,000. What is he going to do with 100,000+. He will be fine.

The capacity for football in Sun Life is only 75,000. I would estimate the stadium was only about 85% filled, so if the announcers claimedm 80K, then they are idiots (not surprising being it was on ESPN and all). It got a little loud, but nothing earth shaking.

The receivers were covered pretty well, but there was always an open man somewhere on the field. I also noticed that the QBs and WRs were not on the same page. Overall, it was a pretty crappy night for the passing game.

Exhale.....

I said it earlier in the week & I still feel the same way....nothing about Miami worries me. Ohio State could've easily won this game, but I feel they beat themselves. Bad play calling, bad quarterback play & missed tackles.

You simply can't give up the early big plays on the road and expect to come out with a W. That being said, from the 2nd Quarter on, I thought the D played a hell of a game. They definitely gave the team a chance and kept themselves in the game.

Suspect play calling once again. Obviously I'm not an offensive coordinator, nor have I ever coached football in my life, but I just didn't get some of the play calling. You gain 9 yards by running the ball between 1st & 2nd down and then throw a deep ball on 3rd and 1. Run the football and give yourself a shot at continuing the drive. I understand you don't want to be predictable, but Miami couldn't stop the Ohio State running game up the middle....why abandon it?

Jordan Hall.....WOW. I knew he was a good football player, but as others have said, this kid has "IT". Every time he touches the ball, he has the chance to take it for 6. I'm not sure where he went in the 2nd half (cramps?), but he needs to touch the ball 25-30 times a game. I'm VERY excited to see this offense when we get Boom & Posey back.

Joe B.....Been around forever & has waited for his chance, but it's time to focus on the future now, IMO. Granted he didn't turn the ball over last night, but I believe Braxton gives this offense the best chance at moving the ball down field.

Braxton.....Give him the start next week, build some confidence and put together some plays to build upon. This kid is going to be special, I think the game just needs to slow down for him. He obviously has the legs & a hell of an arm, he just needs to get on a roll and build that confidence up.

This season.....is FAR from over & for those sitting on the ledge or for those who have already jumped, I suggest you give it some more time. This team has the talent to play with anyone in the country, despite losing their head coach, starting QB, starting RB, starting WR, starting LT, #2 RB and starting CB throughout the first 3-5 weeks of the season.

I'm looking forward to the future & NO MATTER WHAT, will support this team and cheer my heart out. Time to move on from the loss and focus on Colorado. LET'S GO BUCKS!!!!

Sorry. I did not remember what they said. I just picked out 80k off the top of my head.

No offense to Luke Fickell. I think he can be a very good coach.

But, Urban Meyer anyone???

Any day of the week... I don't care how we do this year but if you have a chance to get an Ohio guy, who loves this university, coached here before, won two national titles (one at our expense), proven recruiting superstar, and is relatively young you do it.

I don't mind Luke, but I think he just needs a bit more time to be better prepared... What sucks is this is his dream job, and at the end of the year if we hire Urban or something he will never get another shot at this school. Tough tough spot for luke.

Urban is also very familiar with Florida HS coaches.... Mmmm.

lol good point 33... I never thought of that. It sure couldn't hurt hu?!

I thought a lot of players played great though...

Hankins, Klien, Sweat, JORDAN HALL, Hyde, Bennett, and moeller all had good games.

I thought there was some crucial no call penalties on two of the big runs Miller had against us too, but that wouldn't have changed the outcome but still.

Can't stress it enough I hope fick does the right thing for this school and especially for the football program going forward and starts Braxton from here on out. Nothing beats game reps for the QB position. That decision alone will tell me all I need to know as well regaurding Ficks competence for this university. Tressel made that difficult switch in 2008 and fickel needs to do the same.

I'm wondering the same thing. Say we bring in Meyer...I still want Heacock, Vrabel and Taver at all costs. The defense, with so many new starters, really did well considering how much pressure our inept offense put on them.

You are right; he has to learn....which is my point exactly. I didn't expect him to come in and play a flawless game. I don't think anyone with common sense did. Two of the most predicatable mistakes a young QB can make is to stare down his receivers and deliver the ball late. Braxton did both on that interception; thus, it was his fault. College football, on a level such as this, moves at a speed so much faster than high school and again, you are right, he will be fine. The question is, how fast will he develop/adjust? Is splitting time with JoeB hindering his development?

"This was a sad, lifeless noodle between two has-beens..."

Miami has been down for a number of years, tOSU just this season.
Doesn't take long for a program to be written off... But then again, most of the reporters writing about this are like kids only interested in the latest candy.

I would use this as ammo in the locker room.

I can't believe I just wasted my time reading what those ass clowns had to say. Their general tone is that the losses Ohio State has sustained aren't that big a deal.

How many teams could lose all of this and still be successful?:

  • A three-year starting QB
  • Starting RB
  • Starting LT
  • Both starting WRs
  • Their best defensive player
  • A once-in-a-generation head coach
Those aren't guys who graduated or retired, those are guys who would have been on the field tonight if not for injuries and/or trumped-up NCAA bullshit from FUCKING TATTOOS.

Yes, this loss was ugly and given the personnel that was available and their performance, it was deserved. Don't try to pretend though that this is largely the same team that the Buckeyes would have normally fielded for a game like this.

CFN is still burned that U$C got hammered and it appears that Ohio State won't.

To call Ohio State a has-been less than 50 weeks AFTER they were ranked #1 in a season is a complete and utter joke.

I would say CFN should be ashamed to put crap out like that, but no one really reads that site anymore anyway.
