Game Thread tOSU @ Minnesota, Nov 15th @ 12p ET, ABC/WatchESPN

I think Minnesota is a great program. Good coach, good defense, and a good attitude. UFM knows all of this, too, and I think he has the guys weary about the ambush or trap.

Minny has a good defense, and you can bet they will be punching at the football Saturday, trying to knock it loose.

I know we will score - what I don't know is how well we will keep them from scoring. Time of possession could be different with a running team like this. I think we win 38-10.

I don't know what the line is but I'll bet it will be huge... If I were a betting man I think i would take a serious look at Minnesota beating the spread.

Let's hope no injuries, a lot of linemen get in the game on both sides of the ball. Seems to be a priority right now.

So we're up to #8 in the Playoff rankings.. and for all purposes #7 since Miss St & Alabama bumping heads

FSU plays high schools the rest of the way.. so that's locked up; same for Oregon

Ala still needs to deal w Auburn (and who knows what Auburn will/won't do)
Miss St has to deal w Ole Miss too
TCU has 2 away games
Baylor still has Kansas St

Hi guys, Gopher fan here just checking out your site. Really looking forward to hosting you guys this weekend it should be fun. For those making the trip be safe and I hope you enjoy the city and the stadium. If you're looking for campus bars and such I would suggest Stub 'n Herbs, The Big Ten, The Hole, Campus Pizza, and BBW. Those are all in stadium village and then of course dinkytown has other options such as Blarneys, Annie's Parlor, and some others.

As far as my prediction goes I'm trying to convince myself that we have a shot but there's no way I can predict a Gopher win obviously. I do think it will be closer than some of these 50-14 type predictions that I've seen on here. I'm thinking 37-24 or something along those lines is more likely. Our offense isn't nearly as one dimensional as people think. In the non-conference we barely threw the ball because we simply didn't need to which really skewed our passing stats. Leidner has vastly improved since the TCU game and has been pretty good since then, especially throwing down field. The idea that the Gophers can't throw is a myth. I also don't see our defense giving up anywhere near 50 at home but you put up 49 on MSU so there goes that theory haha.

Anyway it should be fun, safe travels to those making the trip!!

I wouldn't put it past Oregon to choke in the Pac 12 title game against ASU/UCLA/USC whomever

Not yet haha. That would be a pretty slow game I would think. Even though it'll be cold this Saturday it doesn't sound like there will be a lot of snow if any. I'm glad the Vikes had heating coils installed before the season started or the field would have been an ice rink.

Heating coils, I dig it! Does the home team get loads of extra coils on their sideline for home field advantage?

Haha doubtful. But actually if it's a sunny day that means that the Buckeye sideline will literally be 10-15 degrees warmer than the home side. I've always wondered since the stadium opened if the Gophers regret that decision. I believe our stadium is the only stadium in the conference that runs east/west so one side is sunny while the other is complete shade. I picked my season tickets to be on the sunny side for these cold weather games specifically.

On one hand, this one worries me. Minnesota has consistently gotten better each year it seems and then after their destruction of Iowa, they are a legit top 25 team IMHO. That tight end of theirs seems like a star and their running game is solid.

On the other hand, we're now in some talks regarding top 4. We blew it late in the year last year and that sting is still with this team. I have trouble believing they won't be motivated beyond fired up in all their remaining games. That's not saying it's a gimmie, but if they aren't PUMPED for these remaining games, I'd be shocked.

The Gophers are a very solid, well coached team. Cobb is one of the best RBs in the country, and Maxx Williams is an NFL TE. Leidner had been the second best QB in the B1G in conference play. He's pretty much #2 in yards per attempt, yards per completion, and completion percentage. He doesn't throw often, because mostly they don't need him to.

The D will be tested. We need to take the ball out of Cobb's hands, and make Leidner beat us.

They have a very solid, if not spectacular defense. Actually, their defensive numbers would have the pundits raving if they played in a different conference. This will be another tough test for the Buckeyes' offense, though i am pretty sure the Buckeyes can score on anyone at this point. They need to do it early and often. The Gophers are not built to come from behind. Get a 14-17 point lead, and it takes them completely out of their game.

although I'm a bucks fan i live in Minneapolis too and thought i would chime in regarding the gophers being one dimensional. I would say Minnesota has been more opportunistic lately but they IMO are very much one dimensional

138 vs iowa
240 vs ILLINOIS on 12 of 30 no less
165 vs Purdue on 9 of 18
153 vs NW 10 of 15
167 vs scUM
7 (yes seven) against SJSU
169 vs TCU
67 against Middle Tennessee
156 eastern illinois

Yes Minnesota runs more but normally there isnt much of a attempt to throw because the QB is a better runner than thrower.
