tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Good insight on the pressure to commit early. Logically one would assume it just means that you will see more kids flip before signing day. It's just human nature to cover your bases and have a spot but then continue to look around. Especially with the age of these young men.

It's been interesting to follow the OL and LB recruitment so far. I have faith though. Sure makes me glad we got the LB haul last year that we did. I think Jamal Marcus will be a stud but it would be nice to have some talent this year to add some depth. Same goes for the OL.

It seems as if the staff has secured commitments from kids in the key areas of need and have since taken a step back to watch how things play out, especially after the 2 quick decommits.

From my novice perspective I can see two themes: limited scholarships and a strong desire by the staff to find the best kids nationally. Very interesting. It's been a while since anyone has dared make a prediction of how the class finishes out. That too is kind of funny. No one around here ready to put their toe back in the water?

I can't wait for the season to start and people to see the results of this major transition. Once that becomes more apparent I think recruiting takes a totally different feel especially on the offensive side. Is it late August yet?? Can't wait.

So happy to have the 11 we do at this point. What a great position to be in building off this quality group. Looking at the different positions covered I can't help but feel great about where we stand. Go Bucks!

Interesting that Lee committed on the spot. While I know that the staff is still recruiting Bell, I wonder if the staff is still recruiting Thomas. I'd love to have both, but with the limited schollies available, I'm not sure if we have room for both.

IMO, I've read enough to say the ship has sailed on Thomas. No whispers anywhere on any site to even suggest he has any interest in OSU. Could this change? Absolutely. But Thomas MUST initiate the contact.

The coaches will wait on Bell as long as it takes.

From what I have read about Lee, he is being looked at several different positions: S, Star and OLB. This is based on where he was worked at the most recent camp in Columbus.

Anyone with knowledge care to venture a guess where he ends up?

He was with Fickell for most, if not all, camp last weekend working at LB. My guess is that he worked at Safety at the previous camp, was very good, but the staff maybe saw him outgrowing the position and wanted to see him at LB. Working at LB got him the offer.

That makes sense given the lack of offers to LBs in the 2013 class.

Mike Mitchell and Tim Kimbrough (although that ship may have sailed) are seemingly the only two even on the board right now barring a major surprise from someone like Deon Hollins.

Tyquan Lewis and Lewis Neal are on the board as well.
