Has anyone else seen this movie? I saw it last night and thought it was horrible. Most of the acting was poor, but the script was even worse. The only redeaming value of this movie were the characters Hector and Ulysses and a couple of the battle scenes-but even these weren't that great compared to other war movies that have come out in the last couple of years.

I ended up hating everyone by the end of the movie except for the two characters listed above and could care less who actually won the war. Brad Pitt was horrible as Achilles, who as the hero I disliked from the first 15 minutes of the movie. And of course the worst part was having to see his stupid, naked ass on the screen every 10 minutes.

Sadly, this movie wastes one of the greatest stories ever told. Take my advice and skip this one. Check out Van Helsing instead...or even Shrek 2 as it has to be better than this disaster.

Good to know, Grad. I was considering going, but am now reconsidering. I wondered about Pitt for the Achilles role. Not a Pitt hater, necessarily, but he doesn't fit the classical profile. I could see him as Odysseus, but he's too small and too "pretty" for Achilles. Did they cut out Patrocles (sp?), Achilles' best friend/booty partner?

Patrocles is in the movie and plays a similiar role as he does in the Iliad.

As for the boob shots, there are no clear, straight-on ones. Just a lot from side angles. Nothing worth going to the movie exclusively to see them.

Troy was a really good movie, great fight scenes and I thought the acting was really good as well. The only drawback was the mostly nude Brad Pitt shots. Worth the money to go see it.

Van Helsing?!? No wonder you hated this movie, I heard Van Helsing stunk :p.

I'll stick with the book

Its been a couple years since I read the Illiad but isn't Achillies just a big bad ass? I don't have anything against Pitt but when the character calls for a big bad ass, he shouldn't be casted, he would have been perfect for paris but they gave that to elf boy.

Hector is supposed to be a semi-big bad as too and who the (#$#$ is Eric Bana?

Pitt got pretty big for this movie, ripped even that was one reason his character was so convincing. Legolas was PERFECT for Paris he came off very feminine and jsut like in the book he was renound for his beauty (and no more gay jokes :mad1: ) and Legolas portrayed him perfectly. Bana is the Hulk how much more bad ass could he get?
