Couple different reports have circulated saying Burke is going pro. His dad has debunked it so far saying he's still enrolled at UM. If he leaves, UM is left with a walkon as their starting point guard next season.

I don't see where some of these kids get their advise from. No way he's anything right now other than an early second round pick. Play another year and you're possibly a lottery pick. Jump now, and he'll be playing along side Darius Morris in the D-league.

Oh well. Guess we'll be back to middle of the pack bball again.

This post clearly displays your lack of knowledge when it comes to the NBA and its draft. As Buckguy correctly points out, things VERY likely will never get better in terms of Burke going pro. Ergo, it's time to leave, notwithstanding your and mgoblog's inability to grasp the point.

Trey is all but gone according to almost everyone.

FYI, Spike is the emergency fill-in PG for Trey

Spike Albrecht visiting Thursday | mgoblog
This guy is so good Rivals, ESPN and Scout forgot about him.
:slappy:
Name anyone on our roster or on the horizon who is a better PG option for next year? It sucks that these early departures (potentially) have left us in this situation, but lets not take it out on a guy who will help our team next year...
They also didn't anything nice to say about Novak and Douglas when they came in.
When Novak & Douglass are the examples of "diamonds in the rough," you know Michigan is back
Look at it this way... The kid played with McGary and GRIII on their AAU team. They already know how to play together. I would like to think this gives Spike a little bit of a boost at least in team chemistry.
He may not be highly touted, but it sure sounds like he can play the point (of course this is based off of "coach speak" in the linked article, but still). Is he a Trey Burke? No, but who says we even need a Trey Burke on this team to be successful? We will have enough playmakers in Hardaway and GRIII, a shooter in Stauskas, and a crash-the-boards type in McGary as far as touted talent goes. We need a guy who can distribute to them. Granted, he'll just be a freshman, but it sure sounds like he has the tools to be a true point guard as someone who can control the ball and distribute. Maybe that's all the team needs to perform at a high level - a Steve Nash type (not comparing ability, just the type of player).
If we get this kid, I will be very happy. Even if it just means we actually have a true point on our team. Which... yeah. I'd say we could kind of use a little bit of that.
Hey you guys know what's a great idea? Let's all bash him on the board he's probably reading a few days before he visits. Who needs him anyways.
If Beilein is recruiting him at a position of serious need, we should try and show him at least a little respect. Guy is a genius when it comes to uncovering underrated talent...
bashing him really makes that much of a difference. We will be the only big-time program (or any program?) who is going to offer him. This is probably a move for depth. Stauskas will most likely start at point before him. This is not a "late bloomer" as his season is done and still nobody has offered. Burke had a bunch of other D-1 offers.
I didn't realize it until now, but this board may have the biggest collection of self loathing vaginal posters of any site on the internet.
Burke leaving isn't the end of the world. This kid is pretty good.

Ehhh, there aren't many options. Beggars can't be choosers I guess.

http://www.detroitnews.com/article/...y-Burke-has-not-decided-NBA-John-Beilein-says

Michigan basketball coach John Beilein provided an update on point guard Trey Burke on U-M's athletics website on Thursday. It reads, in part:

"I would like to note that Wednesday's reports of Trey Burke's decision to enter the NBA draft were premature.

"My coaching staff and I have met with Trey and his parents several times over the past two weeks. Collectively, we have gathered and shared with each of them some necessary information that we feel will help Trey make the most informed decision for his future.

"The Burke family has been very receptive to our assistance and appreciates that we have encouraged Trey to take his time and look at all of his options between now and the April 10 deadline.

"With only one full week of classes remaining, Trey and his teammates, like all students at Michigan, are working diligently to complete their assignments and prepare for final exams."
