Yep. Once Self's kids moved on, Illinois was strictly a middle-of-the-pack B1G team. I don't think Groce will change that much. They needed to make a splash with this hire, and failed. It's not that I think Groce is a bad coach, I just don't see him as a major upgrade over Weber. I think he's definitely an upgrade coaching-wise, but I can't see him making the splash in Chicago recruiting that they need.

He'll get them into the tourney a little more regularly, and help them advance a little further than Weber has in the last 6-7 years, but I don't see him taking them to the next level.

OSU certainly will be more battle-tested on Jan. 13, having played at Duke (currently #2), vs. Kansas (currently #9) and at Illinois (currently #10).

The only ranked team scUM will have played is NC State, at home (currently #25).
