DFBIA is really tuned in to what recruits really care about when selecting a school, and what sets Michigan apart.
Great stuff, as usual, but let's not forget that recruits are teenagers, and that teenagers are prone to making bad decisions, even concerning important decisions like where to hone your skills for your future multi-million dollar career in the NFL. Donovan PeopLLLes-Jones comes to mind, as does KyLLLLLe KaLLLLLis, Shawn CrabLLLLe, and the entire Boren family before they had their collective road to Damascus moment.

Some recruits make emotional/irrational decisions to attend a particular school despite all the logical arguments against it, and college football is littered with players who sabotaged their own careers by choosing the wrong school (for example, Marvin Wilson going from 5-star prospect to undrafted free agent after four years at Florida State). Now, I'm not saying that Walter Nolen is going to go to Michigan because of #0, or winged helmets, or BBQ, or his BFF is a commit ... but I wouldn't entirely rule it out.

If Nolen does make that ruinous life choice, then fine by me - he'll simply become the next five-star prospect to massively underachieve in Ann Arbor. And we'll have the added bonus of calling him WaLLLLter NoLLLLen for the rest of our lives.

And thus NIL ends one of the slimiest relationships in college football.

Difference with the names you mentioned, was they weren't around for the time of the transfer portal. And many guys who have signed with scUM have turned around and made better decisions and left in the portal. Guys like Zach Charbonnet, William Mohan, Giles Jackson, Ben VanSumeren, CHristian Turner and Zach Carpenter may have made better decisions with their next schools. Ben St. Juste, Tarik Black, Brandon Peters and James Hudson have all gotten to the NFL from the team theyve transferred to after leaving scUM.

So your 4 star DT son was turned into an undrafted nobody FB, and you saw first hand for a year the kind of dumbfuckery Harbaugh brings on a daily basis........and you sign up to do it again? They gotta be paying this guy a fortune.

Or they're chasing him out of MD. He's not exactly beloved there, as his recruiting practices have made St. Frances essentially IMG in the DMV with his "recruiting donations"...

Michigan looks good for:

Pollard - OLB

Deone Walker - NT

Ja’Kobi Albert - ATH(Secondary)

Deuce Spurlock - ATH(Secondary/WR)

Dillon Tatum - ATH(RB/S)

Dillon Bell - RB/WR

Michigan is currently at 15 commits. This would put them at 21. They have room for around 25 most likely. They still need at least 2 more offensive lineman. So that would leave 2 spots.

Walter Nolen - DT (There is a chance)

Keon Sabb - Safety (Waiting to see how Michigan’s season plays out)

Sebastian Cheeks - LB (Notre Dame/Michigan)

Jahlil Florence - Secondary (Michigan)

Joshua Josephs - LB (Tennessee)

Jeremy Patton - ATH

Michigan probably gets 1-3 of these guys listed just above. I listed where I think they’ll go. They could probably fit all 3 that are most likely and if somehow they could get 4 of them they’ll make room. Not sure about offensive lineman. Like I said probably 2 more commits there but I don’t know who they would be.
That would be:

Pollard - OLB
3-star #550, #56 LB

Deone Walker - NT
3-star, #366, #53 DL
from Cass Tech

Ja’Kobi Albert - ATH(Secondary)
3-star, #368, #27 ATH

Deuce Spurlock - ATH(Secondary/WR)
3-star, #1143, #101 ATH

Dillon Tatum - ATH(RB/S)
4-star, #257, #13 ATH
A battle with MSU that they may be losing, as they point out in the comments

He doesn’t talk to Harbaugh, coach Tucker talks to him a lot.

Dillon Bell - RB/WR
3-star, #568, #75 WR

With the long shots:

Walter Nolen - DT (There is a chance)
We’ve discussed

Keon Sabb - Safety (Waiting to see how Michigan’s season plays out)
They didn’t even make his top 6 schools

Sebastian Cheeks - LB (Notre Dame/Michigan)
4-star, #126, #13 LB
From Illinois, looks like no one really has an idea of where he might be going, but between Notre Dame, Texas, North Carolina, Oregon, Wisconsin he has plenty of better options that hopefully he’s smart enough to take

Jahlil Florence - Secondary (Michigan)
3-star, #386, #37 CB
They appear to be battling Syracuse here if the 247 rating is accurate, most of the Pac10 not named USC has also offered

Joshua Josephs - LB (Tennessee)
3-star, #527, #26 EDGE
247 says Kentucky, Penn State, Tennessee battle

Jeremy Patton - ATH (Texas)
3-star, #591, #63 LB
Looks like it’s a Texas/Baylor battle with Michigan running third at best

Even their absolute best case scenario being projected here (going way out on a limb and assuming Nolen and Sabb are out) is extremely mediocre.

May things crash and burn (like Will Johnson bouncing to USC) and only end up worse for them. It seems plausible they won’t get a single targeted “maybe” prospect, not like it would be a great haul if they did manage it either way.

Their absolute best case scenario still has at least 15 three-star prospects. I don't think that the talent gap is closing any time soon.

Beating out dead program Auburn, IU and UCF. Big day.
Sometimes you beat dead program Auburn, sometimes dead program Auburn beats you....

Beating out Auburn for a recruit may have been impressive 2/3 years ago.

This year currently Auburn has a average player ranking of 87.13, of their 6 current commits only 1 is in the top 300. I can't imagine its going to get much better either.

DFBIA of course will chalk this up as a "impressive get over the SEC" though.
