Some things never change... The only ones surprised by this are the DFBIA who were convinced that Clark was a changed man.

So this is a decent breakdown:


People like to bring up OSU, as though two things were true:

A) That was anything other than remarkable/rare on OSU's part

B) The incoming talent was similar


OSU signed the #3 & #2 ranked classes in 2013 & 14, which were their 3rd & 4th year players for 2016.
UM signed the #20 & #35 ranked classes in 2014 & 15, which will be their 3rd/4th year players for 2017.

OSU signed 3 five stars and 37 four stars in that span.
UM signed 1 five star and 14 four stars in that span, and the 5-star was peppers (without whom Hoke misses the top-25 both years).


Michigan recruited very well in 2011 & 12. Harbaugh recruited equally well in 16 & 17. As much fun as we like to have hyping OSU's insane '17 class, Harbaugh brought in loads of talent too. But there's a big gap inbetween those now departed '11/'12 classes and the 1st & 2nd year '16/'17 classes.
