Today would be a perfect game to play Young for a series or two and then rest them and let the young pups in Smith and Friday get some gameday reps, and have Cooper and Cornell play heavy minutes with them(as both need all the reps they can get in preparation for Ped St, as both have been in the program for a few years but with little actual PT). I would say the same about the DTs, play Jones and Landers for a few drives and then rest them for Ped St, and allow guys like Cage, Togai, Jackson and Vincent to get extensive PT

I like the overall idea, but I'd bet that Young needs the reps more than Cooper, who has been playing for awhile in spot duty.

Five Predictions: Tulane at Ohio State

When it comes to predicting things, the world is my oyster.

I spend most of my waking hours predicting things. I predict things like when the microwave is going to finish making my pizza. I will stop watching the clock with about two minutes left, then purposely distract myself so I’m not counting down in my head, then — all the while with my eyes closed — I will attempt to precisely point at the microwave the very second my Tony’s Deep Dish for One hits triple zeroes.

I almost got it exactly right one time.
I also predict things like what commercial will be coming up next during a Judge Judy show, but I always go with catheters because it’s just a good bet.

.
.
Now let’s get to the game we have all been waiting for.

1. Binjimen Victor is going to freaking score this week, I can feel it.
I have already missed on this prediction once this year, but now I can confidently say that I think I might get it right this week. Binjimen Victor is so overdue for something good to happen that Urban Meyer and Ryan Day are going to make sure he finds the end zone. It might be very similar to the touchdown he should have scored against TCU, but Dwayne Haskins won’t underthrow him this time. Or, the Buckeyes could try the double forward pass!

2. Tate Martell will have at least 100 yards of total offense.

Tate Martell will play in the first half and then also most of the second half. He won’t just be running the ball in the second half, but when he does run it, we know he is likely to go quite a ways. I’m also feeling like a 50-yard touchdown pass to freshman wide receiver Chris Olave. Olave is going to score eventually. Hopefully we will also finally get to see freshman quarterback Matthew Baldwin, but I don’t know that he’ll be throwing the ball downfield when he finally comes in.

3. Shaun Wade will be in the box score for something other than a standard tackle.
You might read this one and say, “Huh?” But I’m talking about Shaun Wade recording a tackle for loss or sack or pass breakup or interception or blocked kick. Having gone through the box scores of the first three games, defensive backs will get into the box score for something other than a tackle about half the time. Wade has done it in each of the last two games since he has taken over as the team’s No. 1 nickel back. I expect him to make it three in a row this week.

4. A safety will intercept a pass.
Now that Shaun Wade is in the safety room, he is technically the only Ohio State safety with an interception this season. That may or may not change this week, but somebody in that room is securing a pick this weekend. I understand that this is a gamble of a prediction, but they say go big or go home and I’m already home, so I guess I have to go big.

5. A freshman will be involved in a play of over 26 yards.
You might think this is a vague prediction, but I would remind you that I have specifically mentioned that this prediction is about a play and it will be at least 26 yards. And let’s remember, yards are very specific things that are marked out on a football field. I honestly don’t know if this prediction could be any more specific. If you want me to name some names, I’ll mention Chris Olave again. He’s due. Tate Martell’s 38-yard run will count as well. That’s right, I’m including redshirt freshmen.
