What about Solomon Thomas? Well, Stanford's Defensive Coordinator, Derek Mason, has emerged as the leading candidate to fill the Vanderbilt head coaching vacancy. If Mason does indeed accept the job and were to take some Stanford defensive coaches with him, it's hard to imagine this not having at least some effect on Solomon Thomas. Larry Johnson will have a chance to impress Thomas when the official visit takes place in two weeks, though with all of the turnover at each of Thomas' top three choices it seems like Thomas staying home and playing at Texas is becoming more and more likely.

Kinda interesting because the crystal ball shows him 77% standford, 11% good guys, 11% Texas.

Call me overly optimistic but I just don't see how the hire of L J doesn't help here or at least keep us even. Yes, I know he had a connection with Vrabel but if he was indeed looking hard at us originally how does brining in a guy with a very impressive resume for developing DL talent for the league hurt here? In fact in that regard his resume and Vrabe's are not even in the same category. My point is that I don't see that Vrabe's departure alone will be what drops us from the race. Now with news of the DC departure, if ST still ends up at Stanford then he was headed there all along.

From 247:

That's completely fair, but I have to ask: why the heck are you still considering Arkansas?

I think we can conclude that he was not considering Arkansas because of their defensive coordinator. Also, I seem to recall that their defensive line coach left previously. Since Urb woudl have hired the best DC and DL coach available, I can conclude that it was not because of new coaches there. And we all know it is not because of the head coach there. And if he was admitted to Stanford, he must be pretty smart, in fact, so smart that his thought process is way more sophisticated than mine.

In summary, I have proved that I have NO idea why he is considering Arkansas, as result reached by UpNorth_Buckeye with considerably less effort.
