U.S. Open - Men's Tennis

Marat Safin just got possibly one of the worst calls ever in professional tennis. Safin was called for a foot fault at 4-5 30 all in the fouth set up two sets to one. The center judge on the other side of the court called him for a center line foot fault on a second serve. Not only is this nearly unheard of, it wasn't even close to being true. His foot never lined up on the other side of the tee, muchless the fact once he hit the serve, which is all that matters, neither of his feet were anywhere close to warrant a foot fault.

it was the correct call, his foot was on the center line when he started his motion, hence a foot fault. I have been called on that exact same call before in a tournament. So I do feel his pain, but it was correct.

Yeah, it turned out to be the correct but it is a fucking retarded rule. Where the hell were you palying at and got that called on you. I would freak the fuck out.

just at a local tournament, it wasn't a big one, so there were only roving umps, and he happend to be watching my court at the time, and he called me on it. I was only 14 too.
Oh, I thought you were referring to a center judge on the other side of the court. I definetly see foot faults called all the time, but in those circumstances it is quite strange.

Roddick won last night....and his opponent said that Roddick "made the biggest mistake of his life" by "Hitting a 140mph serve" at Santoro.

What an idiot. Suck it up and stop being such a pussy. It's part of the game, and if someone hits a hard serve and is clearly better than you, you don't cry like a little bitch. What a poor display of sportsmanship

ya, i don't understand why he's pissed, the serve was in, how is it Roddick's fault that he's too old to get out the way. What a bitch, and very unsportsmanlike there at the end by just standing there letting the serve go by him. It's not like it was a volley or overhead that whizzed by his head.

I didn't understand it either. Santoro's always seemed to be a pretty sportsmanlike guy, but I didn't think Roddick was out of line. When Santoro was standing there with his arms crossed, Andy should have just dinked in an 80 mph serve. :)

ugh, Ana Ivanovic loses today 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. I'm sad now
Coin actually played decent from what I saw, but I have a tough time watching women's tennis so I only caught the end of the second and third sets. I'm pumped to see De Hart play tonight. It is crazy seeing people I used to play against playing majors.
