UF OL Ronnie "Taz" Wilson (official thread)

Sorry, with all due respect, I understand your love for your son but I can't agree with your assessment.

We are well wishers here for Taz. We'd like to see him overcome this and go on to success. However, his involvement in this incident was inappropriate in the extreme.

Whether he was a Buckeye, a Gator, or someone who never touched a ball, it wouldn't matter. Any time you pull a weapon out of your car and discharge it after chasing someone, you are in the wrong.

I can't understand how a guy, who was driving away from an incident and not threatening Taz in any way can be in "more in the wrong". Perhaps you can explain why we shouldn't be thinking that Taz is very, very lucky that he is not in prison.

Taz needs to realize he can never be involved in something like this again, ever, not an assessment that the guy he chased and shot at is somehow "more at fault". So, I hope you'll understand if I disagree.

1. Taz did not chase him, this guy was following Taz around in the middle of the morning.
Twice this guy said in the tape that Taz passed him and he passed him back. How can you pass some one who is chasing you?

2. He's not in prison because the whole thing was all lies and the State Attorny sided with Taz that it was self defense.

Why is he carrying and firing guns?

Don't most 300 + men need an automatic weapon to defend themselves?

300+ SEC linemen are faster than the bullets they fire and can catch them if the gun goes off accidentally. It is a generally accepted fact here in the south that a football player is taking it easy on you if he pulls a gun.

Probably is his father. Ronnie has been known to show his face here from time to time. His mother has also posted here on occasion.

I think that was a little over the top. Would you say something like that about an Ohio State player? I know you were kidding, but I think that may be crossing the line.

-Ronnie Wilson [PICTURED] of Pompano Beach Blanche Ely is
practicing at defensive tackle. Wilson was kicked off the team
last year for firing an assault rifle into the air near a downtown
nightclub. Notice how there's no stripe on Ronnie's helmet. Guess
that means he's already a part of the team. (For those who don't
know what I'm talking about, incoming freshmen at UF have thin
stripes on their helmets during preseason camp. When coaches take
the stripe off, it signifies that you're officially a member of the team.

I live in Gainesville, and a friend of mine emailed me this article on Tazz.

Florida Gators Country ? Football ? Something to prove

On what was just another first day of football practice all over the country, rivers of sweat poured off number 70 as he went through the drills at the north end of the field. He was out there with a bunch of freshmen and although he was obviously older than everybody else, he played with the kind of enthusiasm you might expect of a walk-on with something to prove.
Number 70 is Ronnie Wilson and by the time 7:30 arrived he could have caused a flood of Ark proportions if you had run him through an old-fashioned wringer. He was completely drenched but there was no sign of letting up....etc
