Umpire BLOWS Galarraga's Perfect Game

And as for the use of replay - anything that slows the game down has to be good for baseball.

I'm especially fond of the argument against instituting full use of instant replay in MLB because baseball has traditionally been all about the "human" (i.e., excrutiatingly incompetent) element. Incorporating the use of all this new-fangled gadgetry like cameras & recording equipment would defile the purity of the game.
Work of the Devil, it is!

I think of these proponents of purism as fans of ALB: Amish League Baseball.

If HS ball had instant replay... my son would have been SAFE at third Saturday... BS call...

Condolences...:(

(Seriously, there is nothing associated with sports that will drive me jibbering out of my tree more than bad officiating.
I can't stand seeing a game's outcome determined by a blown call--hate hate hate it!)

Hall to get base, spikes and ball from Galarraga gem

Ben Walker
Associated Press

The Hall of Fame has bagged the key evidence from Armando Galarraga's stolen perfect game.

The Detroit Tigers have told the Hall they will donate the first-base bag, Galarraga's spikes and a ball from last week's near-miss at Comerica Park.

A blown call by umpire Jim Joyce at first base on what would've been the final out cost Galarraga the 21st perfect game in history. Galarraga's right foot was on the base, but Joyce ruled that Cleveland's Jason Donald beat the play Wednesday night.
