Which golfer wins the US Open this year?

FYI, there's also a combo bet on Tiger's and Federer's majors for the rest of 2009, giving a change to hit big odds by getting all 5 majors correctly as to whether or not they're won by Tiger or Roger.

For some reason i think the U. S. open at Bethpage will set up alittle bit different from the 1st time it was played there. The tee-boxes will be the same but they could be some changes around the greens. They just may
make it slippery around the approaches. If Tiger is on his game with his second shots then it won't matter. But the "Black" will be a course to be reckoned with again.

it is about the worst weather i've seen here. it is a steady downpour with no end in sight today. they just stopped play, and it will be a miracle if they can complete the first round today. the weekend looks just as bad too. :shake:

Andy North has picked 3 out of the last 6 winners correctly. He's got that formula thing were he eliminates players based on past US Open stats, current tour player stats, etc.. This year Geoff Ogilvy was the last name remaining. He was seriously pissed at The Memorial the last day and could have made a run, but tanked 14 (IIRC).
Mediate was saying last night that he actually thinks a wet course will benefit shorter players and not the longer players like everyone is assuming. His rationale was the shorter players will now be able to fire at the greens easier. Not sure I agree with him, the longer players will be able to fire just as easy and easier.
IMO, hard not to go with Tiger. He's increased the loft on his driver and his driving accuracy is better than ever, hit 14 out of 14 Sunday at The Memorial. You got to be driving accurate in order to win a US Open. As long as he's putting remotely good by his standards, it'll behard to stop him.

hmmm - bad weather at the US open requires tremendous short game play and strong driving. Missing the greens will require someone who can stop his ball on the dime and play strong out of the bunkers. I wonder who could take advantage of these situations?

With the weather that they are having and the stoppage and starting of play probably all through the weekend, I don't think that there will be any big surprise winner just because it is very difficult to keep your game together, not to mention your head, with the starting and stopping.

With 4 second place finishes, he needs to win a US Open. I would love to see it.

Golf Channel was replaying the 1999 open at Pinehurst last night. I wasn't following the game at that time, so it was fun to watch.

Payne is very much missed - he was a rock on the Ryder Cup teams. 100% American.

So very true. One of the most liked players ever by the fans and the other players. He seemed to be on the verge of becoming an All-Time great when he passed.

Peace.

are they going for 36 today? yesterday's afternoon tee times will be finished by 4. yesterday's morning tee times could probably start playing their second round in the next 2 hours and could probably finish this evening. that would give us half the field with 2 complete rounds and the other half with 27 holes played.

I thought they were going to start the second round at 4 PM but then this morning when Tiger was finishing his round they said that he would begin his second round on Saturday:confused:

I don't think they would be able to start a second round today off of both tees because I don't think they would have enough time to replace the pins on the back 9 but I am still somewhat:confused:
